sure you can have a reward like a new outfit or having your hair done. not

FOOD.. we need to get out of the idea that food is a reward.. what you do

next is add five carbs to your diet.. if you did induction at 20 .. move to

25 stay there for the next week. if you keep losing you can add five more

carbs the next week.etc till you reach the level at which you dont lose .

then you have to drop back to the previous level.. try to make these new

carbs heathy carbs from veggies.. or you can try some of the recipies you

have been reading on here..

Becky...depends on what you mean by reward...a little extra salad, or some

nuts??? But stay away from sweets!!!! You can either stay on induction or

add some carbs in the form of veggies and such...up to 30 grams a day. I

wouldn't add more than that...you are now on OWL (ongoing weight loss) so

the battle is still being fought. If you did do a reward that was not low

carb, it could set you off on a binge, so bees good!

Um...isn't the huge weight loss over 14 days a reward???

Try adding 5 carbs a day next week.....

I know I know! I am a wimp. I have been cooking goodies for the past two

weeks and not even licked the bowl. I was just hoping for one nice hot

chocolate after a hard two weeks work!

Sincerely,

becky

Hi Becky - I'm not sure if you are new to the list - so if

you are WELCOME :-)

Now you have heard from some about what the reward should be

and not be so listen to them :-) You need to remember that

this is not a diet where you reward yourself to sticking it

out for 2 weeks - 2 months - 1 year - this is a WOL (way of

life) where you are doing something good for your body. I

know that the high carbs is what got me into trouble in the

first place - so it doesn't make sense to reward oneself

with the bad carbs as a reward. Think of the good you are

doing for yourself - that in itself is its own reward :-))

A lot of people just continue at induction levels of carbs

even after the 2 weeks. So if you want to continue that way

you should.

Please feel free to ask any questions - this list is

wonderful at answering them and giving encouragement :-)

Take Care

Oh yeah, I am a newbie. I have been at work all day and my husband is gone

for the night (Marine Corps).

So what info should I give? I can say that I was at 150 a week and a half

ago. I am trying to make it to 135. I am currently at 140 right now

(weighed in this morning). I know, it doesn't sound like a lot of weight to

lose to some of you, but it is to me. I have a beautiful little boy who has

a myriad of medical problems. I realized I was too heavy when I tried to

lift his small frame(He just hit 42lbs-19kg)and I had trouble carrying him

upstairs. I was having a weight specialist helping train me to lift weights

and eat a high carb diet to build muscles a few months ago and realized that

I wasn't gaining muscle, just fat. So naturally, I freaked/panicked,

whatever you want to call it. Since holidays are coming up, I figured I

needed to do something fast, hard, and dependable. So here I am. I have

done well the first week; no cravings, no hunger pains...I'm just bored

already with what I am eating for breakfast and lunch. I need stuff to fix

that is fast, and that I will eat. Food has never been a big thing to me,

but since I was trying to eat so many carbs in a day, I think I have become

moreso dependent on the flavours. Argh!!!

Hopefully enough info...how humiliating ::sheepish grin::

If anyone wants to see the story on my son and his service dog, here it

is... http://www.angelfire.com/fl2/ziggyiggy

I shall rush to the store for this! I absolutely love sitting in front of

the fireplace with a mug of hot chocolate, watching the snow fall, etc etc.

What is splenda though? sincerely, becky

Becky.. splenda is a sweetner that is made from sugar so its not full of

chemicals it is available in the baking sections of most stores where they

sell the sweetners. it is measure like sugar and tastes like sugar but its

low carb and low calorie

I have hot chocolate all the time. I have President's Choice Hot Chocolate

which is 5.2g of carbs per packet. It's a Canadian brand. There must be

some low carb hot chocolate in the U.S.

I add 1 or 2 T of whipping cream to it to make it richer..which adds

another carb.

I usually have it at night...assuming the days' carbs have been relatively

low. Some people make their own " cocoa " using cocoa powder, cream and Splenda.

After two weeks, it's hard to believe it still feels like work. Maybe you

are not eating enough.

Why not add an Atkin's bar once in a while? Try the Mocha Crunch one..it's

amazing.

Hi Becky,

I'm your second Mom, Mom Pudge, and my suggestion for a reward is NOT

food of any sort but buying yourself something you've been wanting but

haven't felt like splurging for like a nice set of earrings, a CD by a loved

artist, etc. You can buy yourself something to wear but be sure it is

multi-sized because at the rate you're going you're going to reach your goal

in a short length of time......Woooo Hoooo...and then it will be TOO BIG.

Or even treating yourself to a pedicure or a facial. Both of which will

make you feel sooo good.

These are the things I plan to do for myself because I'm interested in a

lot of things besides food, but food is the first thing that jumps into my

mind when I think " reward " . Our parents do this to us when we are very

little ( " Be good and you can have a cookie. " " Oh, can I have two Mommy, one

for each hand. " ) and I have done it to my kids too, d--- my good intentions.

But remember this is a learned habit and CAN be broken. My daughter Kari

says once you have done something 21 times it becomes a replacement habit,

oh excuse me Lura, or Kora or whatever the heck your name is.

But I digress. Keep up the good work and love yourself enough to keep

the lard coming off. We are all with you and on your side.

Love Mom Pudge, (Sharon)
