When I finally collapsed and was taken to the

ER this dr kept comig by and raking a pencil

up the sole of my foot and asking if I could

feel it and telling me I might have GCS..Yes

I could feel it and if I hadn't felt so rotten and

been wrapped up so tight I would have killed

him! Like I really needing someone describing

that(GBS) when I didn't know what was wrong.

I do know that Prednisone is needed in the beginning of these diseases

to stop the damage that is being done. BUT, the doctor should also know

the side effects of the Prednisone are equally as bad as the disease.

My doctor told me that I had to be on the high dosage of Prednisone

until the Imuran kicked in which is usually 6 to 8 weeks. We started

pulling me off the Prednisone after 8 weeks. Nasty, Nasty drug.... Hey,

send your housekeeper over here. I can use her/him. LOL

That is the greatest news yet. Feeling good on the inside in

wonderful. I know what you mean. When I started coming down off the

Prednisone thats what I told my doctor. I feel good on the inside. Of

course he listened and just said " Wonderful " ... so tell your doctor to

CAN IT and to listen to you....LOL

My doctors are still trying to decide whether or not to do the IVIG on

me. We'll see. The Imuran has been able to keep the PM down, it's my

lungs that are giving me the problem now. So any other treatment I

would get would be for my lungs. I go in for a bunch of tests and

treadmill test on the 5th. That will surely poop me out.

Happy you're at home and it went well. Hang in there, it's done wonders

for alot of people.

Hugs to you

Good Morning Helen

How the heck are you today. Couldn't get on line at all last night. I

had gone out for a surprise party for one of my friends and I got home

pretty darn tired. When I couldn't get on line I just went to bed.

Much needed rest. Hope your feeling fine. I have to clean this house

up today or else the Health dept is going to condemn it...LOL. Talk to

you all later.

Hugs to all

Hi Helen

Very happy to hear it all went really well. How many IVIg's have you

had now in a row? Are you getting any stronger? I did talk to one gal

that said it took her a year and then it was like magic. She woke up

one morning and couldn't believe it herself. She felt so good, had a

lot of energy and she had no pain. She said it was well worth the wait.

I'm hoping the same for you. Hey, how was the hospital food? When I

was hospitlized, the food was the best ever. Even when I was in ICU

they brought me this plate fit for a king. I'd go back into the

hospital just for the food. It seems both my doctors are leaning to

IVIg for me but later down the road. So good to hear from you and you

take care. Talk to ya later.

Hugs to ya

Hey Helen

Glad to see you are out and bright eyed and

bushy tailed!!! How long do those treatments

help? They never used anything but predisone

on me so I am woefully ignorant about other

treatments. Anyway glad you'r home again.

.....have an extra pint for me cause I hate

the taste of beer......How's your new chair

doing? I have a recliner that stands you up

now......right now I don't need it but I sure

wish I had it when I did!!! At least I'm prepared

now.

Cari...How does like preschool? At the

rate he is improving you will have a hard time

keeping up with him!

<<Sorry, gang, but having IBM I would never have a cat or dog underfoot

because

of causing bad falls and breaks.  That's why I've been silent for past

week

or so>>

Hi Jim

The cats pretty much stay out from underfoot

.....now if I could just train the footstools!...lol

Hello -

I am new to this group. I have a 4 year old son who was diagnosed

one year ago as either on the mild end of the autism spectrum or

developmentally delayed with autistic traits. We have had him on the

gfcf diet for almost a year. We had absolutely amazing results the

first few months of the diet. He made tremendous gains in language,

stopped his horribly oppositional and resistant behavior, became much

calmer and less irritable, etc. I feel this diet is still helping him

but recently heard about SCD.

I have ordered Elaine Gottschall's book but am wondering if this diet

is appropriate for all children was ASD? My son does not have any

major gastrointestinal symptoms other than the ones caused by some of

the supplements we have him on.

Is this considered a lifelong diet or something to be done until the

gut is healed? We had just starting adding lots of supplements to

his diet and I'm trying to decide whether to continue with the

supplements or stop them and try the diet first. I feel like I am

running out of time. I definitely do not want to do this diet but

feel that it is something that we need to consider trying. Any

information would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
