I am on cloud nine.Everybody thought tat he was going to have to be reimplanted because he wasn't responding at all so we thought something was wrong. But not anymore!!! Guest guest
Hello , Re: the Widex Senso's I strongly agree with your not liking the way they turn on and off! opening and closing the battery compartment seems odd and at first I kept opening it too far and the battery compartment would open all the way and the batteries would slip out! Also, they have a lousy fit with the current direct audio input cords. It's hard to tell if the cords are connected right and if the kid turns her head too far, the cord will pull on the battery door, opening it, and turning off the hearing aid, AND even shooting the battery across the floor! Other than that design flaw, the noise control circuit seems to work pretty well. The kids who have the senso's definitely do better in noise than my daughter with her Siemens power aids. I am surprised that you are getting a lot of feedback. One of the other Odd aspects of the senso's is that when they come off, its hard to locate because of the feedback supression loop. Maybe your audiologist didn't have that set (I have lots of questions as to its value - turning down the gain to reduce feedback? I'd rather just get new earmolds!) If they flop off her ears, there are two reasons I have encountered. Maybe they have an adult earhook rather than a pediatric ear hook (the senso's my daughter tried out had the adult ear hook and she was constantly having to push them back in place). The other reason is maybe the audiologist cut the ear mold tubing a little too long. Place the aid in a " good " sopt behind her ear and see if the tubing is straight or bends out (too long). I can't spot a pediatric ear hook from an adult's one, but maybe the audiologist could tell you or maybe someone here knows some way to tell. I just know the pediatric ear hook works much better at keeping on the hearing aid. Another reason you could be getting more feedback is if they have higher power levels. With my daughter's power aids now, we need to have no vents, as far into the ear canal as possible AND I request double-dipping, where they put on one extra layer to make them just a bit bigger. We still have to remake 1 out of every 2 ear molds to get rid of the feedback. Maybe you just need new ear molds? Lots of suggestions, maybe some true, maybe not. I'm sure you'll get more. That's what's great about this list, we can gain from everyone else's hard won experience. Terri, mother of Kathy, future chef, computer programmer, and superhero. I told her about the CFA #4 working for some of you.......but said that so far all she has had is the CFA BOR #1a's.......she said from the " book " CFA 4's would be the best.......but then checked the 1a box???????? What do you guys think???? Does anyone use the #2's??? Thanks!
