Guest guest
Really ?? Anyone know where I can get one at a good price ?
Guest guest
. . . The range of prices for saunas is huge! . . . You can start with a portable unit for about $500, or less and spend well over $3000 for a walk-in unit. There are some Chinese manufactured units on the market that are almost half the cost of U.S. models. Regardless of which unit you get, you want to be sure that the wood has not been treated with any chemicals. - To my knowledge none of them have been treated - but you never know - and should confirm it before purchasing one. Do a websearch for "FAR infrared sauna therapy" and you'll see the wide range available. I have a HealthMate that I really like. . . Patty has one too. I don't remember the brands the other women have. . . Maybe they'll chime in here with their thoughts and experiences. Just a word of caution . . when you start using one, start slowly. Don't spend any more time in there, or any hotter, than you feel comfortable with. i.e., don't push yourself. You'll gradually be able to increase your time and temp. Wiping yourself with a freshly cut lemon will encourage sweating. . . You should drink plenty water when using a sauna (inside or out), and take extra water soluable vitamins. A, D, E and K are fat soluable . . . so you will want to increase the rest. Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Jill, I get off all meds and start doing coffee enemas to help with pain and YES i like my far infrared sauna which makes me sweat a lot to the point it makes me feel good. I find that coffee enemas help me the best for severe fatigue and pain. Are you on any thyroid meds yet to help with the fatigue ? I dont think low blood pressure has any thing to do with sweating but not really sure on that one. All i know far infrared is very healthy for you. Have you bought any Pregnenolone from your health food store for your Adrenals ... its a creme you rub on your body which helps the Adrenals and this helps with the fatigue. Guest guest
Jill, I know I think many of us here have Fibro symtoms very badly. I know I felt like killing myself but it was against my beliefs...Hopefully you can try natural ways this is the only way of getting total healing. I was on Ativan until I felt it was no longer helping me and determined to get better. Meds are not going to help us get better any sooner and especially pain meds. coffee enemas are great for pain reducers !!!!You need to try that like I was trying to tell SANDY here. And now she is a believer !!! Trust me I was sceptical too but Patty convinced me. I wouldn't do without them. This is a great way to get rid of toxins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pain meds are full of toxins !! Are you on Armour Thyroid or synthyroid ? What are you takihg for Adrenals? I have a far infrared sauna....most girls have a ionic foot bath which helps get rid of toxins if you are not up to saunas. You can buy one on the internet... My son found one of e-bay for me. Fibryo is not stopping you to get better but you need not to sit there and do nothing.... You need to detox your body in order to get better. That means no meds except your thyroid meds while detoxing. Yes you will feel bad but you will eventually get better after doing all of this. Its total up to you if you want to get better . Jill hang in there ...we know what you are going through. I am on Armour thyroid which is natural for your body than synthetics like synthroid. Do you have any natural doctors near you ? This is what you need to get better to help you if you are unable to do it on your own ? In a message dated 3/16/2008 7:03:23 P.M. YOu want it to be far infrared sauna. Yes it makes you hot and sweaty but if you cant handle that then try a ionic foot bath these things help you detox and this is what you need to help you get better sooner. Guest guest
Jill,I have FM also . . . However, as long as I follow my "program" . . . sufficient deep sleep, moderate exercise, regular massage, healthy diet, plus stress and anger management, I wouldn't know I had it. It takes a while to work out your own "program" . . . but it's well worth the effort. You can get past it! . . . FM is a syndrome, not a disease. A Syndrome is a collection of symptoms that have enough in common to be given a name. FM appears to be triggered by a number of things . . . Accidents, illness, death, divorce, stress, etc. . . What the "things" have in common is something that deprives one of sleep for an extended period. I hope you saw the 60 Minutes show. . . They said that sleep deprived brains mimicked those of psychotic people. . . They also said that one thinks they are still functioning, even though they are sleep deprived. . . Guest guest
Jill, I have found the absolute worst thing one can do when one has fibromyalgia is to take pain pills, as this will gradually increase the pain of the fibromyalgia. I hurt so badly I was curled up in a felal position and was crying. I gradually worked my way to where I could walk to the end of my block (that took a while, as I nearly died from my ruptured implant) and then kept working until I could do more. I would not even take tylenol. Today, I rarely have any problems with fibromyalgia, although I still do have it. If I catch a cold, I have symptoms before I know I am catching a cold. But pain pills make fibromyalgia worse in the long run. The women who have toughed it out and done the work are the ones who have the least symptoms and they do not take medication for it. Guest guest
Hi Jill, Sorry about your fibro pain. I had that for the first month after surgery...Dr. Kolb diagnosed it as fibro and I also met the criteria for the 11+ sore points on the body. She suggested I take CorvalenM and I took it for a month or two and absolutely no pain since. I have a FIR sauna and love it. I sweat a ton and feel much better afterwards. This is the one I have but there are other models on here. http://www.nationalpoolwholesalers.com/cgi-bin/commerce.exe? preadd=action & key=NG402CHCE I have low blood pressure too but when I've monitored it, it actually increases in the sauna. I totally understand the wanting to end it all...thought of it daily for several months...but I'm glad I didn't do it. Patty thought of it too...yet, aren't you glad she didn't?!! I bet she feels the same too and her kids and husband as well!! There are so many people who love you, Jill, and you will get through this!! Hang in there. It's a slow process but so many women have recovered! Love, PH > > > > Has anybody heard from our ? She was scheduled from explant > last > > Friday with Dr. Feng. Guest guest
Lynda is so right... I did not have the pain of fibromyalgia, so please forgive me for speaking about this without experience, but I do want to confirm that I've spoken to women who are on pain meds and they NEVER are able to wean off of them and remain in constant pain. Unfortunately and tragically, I have even known one woman to die from her reliance on pain meds. She had two small children that were left motherless. And then there are those who have successfully weaned off the pain meds. They had to tough it out, but as they reduced their reliance on pain meds, they healed! Coffee enemas have a very good reputation for pain relief, so please try to incorporate these. We want to see you successful in your healing approach Jill. Only you can decide how you want to proceed, but please listen to the women who have experienced freedom from pain medications, and see if you can get there too...it will be healthier for you in the long run. Patty > > >Jill, > > > >I have FM also . . . Guest guest
Jill, I wrote a response to another letter, without first reading this one, so please forgive me. I have never walked in your shoes, and I cannot know what you are dealing with. I would never presume to. I am so sorry that you are struggling with so much on your plate, between your husbands and childrens needs, your financial security, the pain you've endured for so long....I wish I knew, or anyone knew, what would make the most difference and get you on the road to healing right away, but I do not. I would like to believe there is some kind of answer for you, and I will continue to believe that. I respect the fact that you have to choose for yourself what is the best way to pursue healing, based on what you need right now and which are the most comfortable to you. It is not my intention to be unsympathetic, and my deepest desire is to see you pain free and healed. It is a long road, we all know that. We each have to choose what we think will work best for us, and not everyone can travel the same path. So please know I understand that. It sounds like you are getting adrenal support, so I am glad for that. I wanted to make a comment about the knee replacements. It pains me to hear you say you need those. My mother received knee replacements, and while it helped her walk a little better, she ended up with a mysterious set of symptoms similar to ours. She is not debilitated, but she is on a plethora of drugs now. She has been told she has fibromyalgia, mixed connective tissue disease, undifferentiated connective tissue disease, and I don't know what else. She has had thyroid issues and heart issues. How much is related to the knee replacements, I don't know, but I do know it all started right after that. If you already have fibromyalgia, I guess it can't get much worse, right? But my concern is that it would not allow you to heal either. With the breast implants gone, at least you have that hope. With ANY kind of foreign material in your body, and an immune system issue at play, my concern is that once the knee implants are in place, they cannot be removed. I am not sure that any of us women will be able to tolerate any kind of implant in the future. God forbid that we should need one for survival. I hope you won't see me as insensitive...I am certainly trying to be sensitive to the needs of our group members by sharing the hope of healing. In the years that I have been involved, certain things have been made somewhat clear, and the use of drugs has been one thing that we have seen to be detrimental to long term healing, generally. That doesn't mean it can't happen, but just know that our goal and our hope is well-intentioned and we want to see everyone successfully healed. Hugs, Patty > > >Jill, > > > >I have FM also . . . Guest guest
Jill, Hi there! I was wondering - I know how you feel about your pain meds as I was the same way. I have severe Fibro and also headaches that are totally uncontrollable since have a major head trauma due to 5 grand mal seizures out of no where on June of 2006... I am still on some meds but I kept having the same issues - uncontrolled pain then I found that after playing around witht he dosages - taking less - no more - I actually felt better at times and my doc and I decided that a certian drug I was taking was causing rebound pain which we then adjusted to a different med... I am not sure what you are taking but maybe this could help? I know how it feels to be on the group and be in horrible pain all the time and be told to take no meds - this actually never worked out for me as well, but I did find that I was taking too much or too strong, etc dosages and once adjusted felt much better. I also have very low blood pressure as well... have no idea why but it has been this way a while. I have no idea about the sweating issues you are referring to but I have them as well - just out of nowhere and I am thinking I am too young for hot flashes (I hope) as my mom and family has a history of not going thru the change until their late 50's and I am only 37. Maybe I should ask my doc about this as well but when I was seeing a naturalistic doc here in town 3 X a week and using their infared sauna I loved it... I felt great afterwards. I just can't afford right now to keep going or buy my own or I would. Hope some of this helps - if you would like to talk about meds, etc., feel free to email me and I can share my experience/changes. Good luck shari > > > > Has anybody heard from our ? Guest guest
Oh Jill,My heart goes out to you . . . My problems are nothing by comparison. . . Everything going on with me is fixable or bearable. . . My sister-in-law has been dealing with chronic pain for many years as a result of a genetically defective spine, and multiple surgeries. Both her brothers are having the same problems to a lesser degree. She takes enough morphine daily to kill most people - but she has no choice. Somehow she manages to go places and do things - even if it results in days recovering. She seldom mentions her pain because, in her words, "Nobody can do anything to help . . . They only feel bad if I complain . . .and complaining doesn't make me feel any better." There are no simple answers . . . We all have to find what works for us and stick with it. I admire you determination to overcome all this and try to continue working! . . . Hopefully you can find a way to redirect your career to something that will be easier for you. It's really tough on families. . . They want to 'fix' things, and if they can't they can withdraw because the pain is so hard to bear! . . . My sympathy goes out to your and your family. . . It takes a Real Man to stick it out when the going gets tough. So, despite your husbands frustration, you obviously have a Real Man! . . . My hat is off to him!God Bless,Rogene
