Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have been following PLSFriends for quite sometime now and have recieved quite a bit of useful information. Briefly, November of " 96 " I took a fall off of a horse ( I am a police officer who trains the horses and riders for Providence, RI PD) and slowly developed a limp. In May of " 97 " it was determined I herniated 4 discs, T-7 though T-11. I was told that this was the source of the problem and within six weeks had all four removed and vertebrae fused. I began to get better but never fully recovered to the condition that I was prior to the surgery. About a year later I started to get worse and about 6/99 was told that it was probably PLS. I was put on Baclofen and with no edifference eventually increased to 80mg a day which would make me to weak. This past week I went to Yale Univ. to Dr. Rosenblum, a physiatrist who specializes in this type of rehab. He suggested AFO's which my physical therapist convinced my neuro doctor into prescribing for me last week and to try Zanaflex. He explained it is a medication that will unmask the stiffness. Also that he was one of the doctors that got this approved since it was being used in other countries for years. I have an appointment for the AFO's tomorrow, the samples which I tried made a great difference, has anyone had any experience with Zanaflex??????????? Thanks
