Hi ,

Yes, he got the idea from your center. We have not had the officers

complaining though.

And your right, how does it sound to scanner land when officers key the mic

and you can

hear their car radio blaring a country music station? Or better yet,

officers chomping on their

gum while they are trying to run subject? Go figure. . .

We have a a policy regarding the TV and so long as there is nothing offensive

or the volume isn't heard on the tape or radio, its all okay. My dispatchers

know the policy and that the TV is a PRIVILEGE that can be taken away. We are

all adults and professionals and should act accordingly. If someone abuses

the policies then that one person will be dealt with on an as needed basis.

The same goes for the Internet. We have a city-wide policy that clearly

describes that it is a CITY computer system and THEY control what you look

at. This includes personal business, games, etc. Its best to just do your job

with the tools the city provides and to use them to the best of ther ability.

There's plenty time for fun and games after work.

<<<<The only information any news agency gets from my center is what they

hear on their scanners. >>>

We have one reporter like that -- he usually gets it wrong or he makes

something up about what he heard. I usually gentle suggest that he must have

one of the other departments in the county on the scanner cause it wasn't

anything we had.
