In MD the STATE PD (at least in most of the counties) patrol the interstates primarily. For instance, in Montgomery County-a motorist should call 911 unless the incident needing assistance is on I-270 or I-495-which MSP patrol. Montgomery County PD patrol all other roadways in the county-and I-270 & I495 if MSP is unavailable. Hope this information helps!
