Hi all,

I wanted to take a moment to welcome both Lana and Pam to our group.

I will write more when I can, but wanted to thank you for letting us know about yourselves.

Hugs,

Jo

thanks jo, the other possibility may be compartment syndrome. Have you heard

of this? Pam

Hi Pam,

another TMJ'r here. as much as I didn't want the diagnosis of RSD

(once I found out what it was!) it was sure nice to be able to connect

my various health problems. Looking at all of them separately, all

the docs had the same answer - " there's nothing wrong, I'm sure it

will go away! "

By the way, what surgeries have you had for TMJ? I just had

bi-lateral disk removal with fat grafts and previously have had

everything from simple joint lavage to osteotomy (breaking the bones

and resetting) and did all the " non-invasive " therapies.

Good luck at the doc!

Lana

p.s. I love your e-mail address!!!!

Hi Lana, glad to meet you. My email name came from my 13 yr old son. Kids ya

gotta love them. LOL. I hope to get good news tomorrow or at least some

kinda of news. I am going crazy trying to fit this all together. It just

makes no sense. Anyway to answer your question. I had my discs removed in

85. I had silastic implants put in. I had grafts from cartlidge taken from

behind my ear. I wore them out in a year. The doc said I heal like

sandpaper. They just went in to try and clean me out and get my bite opening

bigger. I am at 11mm and dropping. They tried to do it arthroscopicaly and

it failed. I thought it would. I told this doc that every other time they

tried it that way they had to open me up all the way to finish the surgery.

I want to have them test for silastic and silicone when they do the

pathology this next time. I should be going in a Jan or Feb some time. The

dr. said he wouldn't wait much longer than that. I actually found this group

from Kathy and the email she sent to the tmjd group. I hope to see ya

posting there soon. You will find alot of information and support just like

you do in this group. I hope all goes well for you with your trying to get

back to your studies. I will let you know what the drs. come up with if

anything. The other thing they are looking into is compartment syndrome.

Ever heard of it? I am learning all kinds of new things these past 2 weeks.

It has been a real eye opener. Take care of yourself. Hope to hear from you

soon. Pam

Yes Pam, it is possible for the swelling to go down and the prednisone was

probably helpful. What is not helpful is protecting your leg to he point of

no use. You have got to keep your leg moving some of the time if you do have

RSD. I hope it goes well today at the doc.

For any who want to read about comparment syndrome, here is an address:

Thanks Jo, I called my pcp this morning. Most of the swelling has gone down

in my leg. I still feel weak and have pain in the calf area. I hope we get

good news. I have been on the prednisone for 3 or 4 days now. I forget how

long. Is it possible with rsd-crps for the swelling to come and go like this

in the early stages. I have been off my feet pretty much for 3 days. It has

gone down before and then returned with a vengence. Is this normal for this

disease? I have so many questions. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks, Pam

Welcome to the group! I fortunately haven't had to go through breast cancer but

I did have a scare last year at only 19 and thankfully it was benign. I'm what

everyone else here calls me their cheerleader! I recently did a marathon walk

for breast cancer in May in Cincinnati called the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer &

I also recently did the Detroit Race for the Cure and hopefully going to do the

Grand Rapids Race for the Cure in September & God willing the Chicago Race for

the Cure and then the Detroit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk the

weekend after the Chicago Komen Race for the Cure! I keep all of you in my

prayers.

God Bless in what ever treatment that you have to go through.

new to the group

Hi all - This is my first time to ever post a message on a web

site. I received the results of a needle loc biopsy last week and I

am told that I have LCIS - my understanding so far is that this is

the earliest stage of BC, almost pre-cancerous, but I am still very

worried and scared. I don't want to interfere at all with those who

have more serious situations - I am praying for all of you. I

wonder if there is anyone with LCIS and what kind of

treatment/surgery you experienced. Right now, my first opinion is

for no surgery and five years of tamoxifen with close followup. I

am 53 years old, no family history - stopped smoking one year ago

after thirty years of 2-3 pack a week habit.

Thanks for any help at all - hang in, everyone
