Guest guest
The following is the public view of a CAD log handled by my Comm Center the afternoon of 1/1/03. It's a double fatality and <ahem> made me a couple minutes late for work, as it occurred on the Hwy that I traverse to get to the Comm Center. (I was due there at 1400 hours.) I saw the helicopter descending over fields some distance away (before I got to the crash scene or even saw that there was a crash ahead) and thought: Hmmmmm, that's not a crop duster.... The vehicle was speeding prior to the crash, attempted to pass another vehicle, over-corrected and drove (airborn) off an embankment into a slough, sideways. Hit a train trestle abutment sideways, crumpled up nearly in half, and slid down into the water under the train trestle overcrossing. 5 occupants; the driver and right front passenger were killed. We had to keep Union Pacific from letting trains through until the abutment was checked for safety. There's a whole lot of info that was not displayed for the media/public view... but I'll explain a few codes real quickly: 1039: message delivered 1180: major injuries 1022: cancel UP: Union Pacific OES: Office of Emergency Services (CA State) F & G: Fish & Game SD: " speed dial " number assignment http://cad.chp.ca.gov/filed.asp?Center=MTCC & LogNumber=0293D0101 Incident: 0293 Location: SR183 AT ESPINOSA RD Map Page: 1076 7G Info as of: 1/2/2003 12:41:49 AM ADDITIONAL DETAILS 12:52PM - 1039 SAL COM, CODE 3 AMBULANCE, AND STATUS ON VICTIMS 12:53PM - PER SO-VEH INTO DITCH,1180,1 POSSIBLY TRAPPED 1:01PM - PER FIRE COM WE NEED FLATBED WITH 50 FT OF CABLE, ASAP 1:03PM - 1039 LUGOS TOW 1:09PM - 1039 ADVANCED 1:09PM - 1039 LUGOS TO 1022 1:12PM - PULLED DOCS OO TRAFFIC LANES 1:24PM - 1039 UP W/CORR LOC 1:24PM - PER FIRE, 1ST CALSTAR ENRT SAN JOSE MED, ETA 20 2:30PM - OES GOING WITH 10 GALS OF GAS, NO WAY TO TELL IF ANY SPILLED BUT VEHICLE IS IN THE WATER 2:35PM - 1039 F & G 2:46PM - TRYING TO EXTRICATE THE VEH F/THE WATER NOW 3:57PM - 1039 U-P, SD 183 " ALEX " 11:55PM - 1039 DOCS FOR LINE 45 Happy to be here, proud to serve.
