Guest guest
Hi all , I haven't posted in a while but a couple of posts caught my interest regarding sleep problems . I'm in my third year of the Best bet Diet and I'm thinking I need some modifications to it . I haven't had sleep apnea problems since I started using a breath rite strip, but I still wake up every couple of hours with a faster heatbeat. this freaks me so I don't get back to sleep right away . I also have ashma ....and I regulate the meds as needed . its a balencing act . too much athma meds amps you up... not enough you can't make it breathe deep or throughout the night . but I don't think it is just that . I don't think I am getting the proper nutrition I need . I have a very limmited diet . lean chicken or turkey , steemed vegies , rice and corn and fruit. I take 2000 mg of d3 , a multi mineral , and 1500mg of ester c . I'm having good results as far as major MS symtoms go on my natural road to recovery but this sleep thing is the next thing I need to deal with before it turns into a major symtom .Pease , If anyone has any insight on this subject ... please let me know., Cranky in Seattle , Tom
Guest guest
Hi Tom, Something else just came to mind, do you have processed foods at all, or eat out at night. MSG will do this to me and sometimes I eat it when I am not aware I have. Once I wake up with the pounding heart then I know I had some. We ate at a really nice restaurant the other night and I could not beleive they used that stuff but my symptoms did not lie. Do you take essential fatty acids, with asthma you could really use them. I had mild asthma years ago and 6 fish oil pills per day made a huge difference. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply Kathy , It is not A-fib ... I have had that before , a couple of years before my MS DX in 2000, an altra-sound of hy heart was clean . It is when I get tired and fatigued at night after work . It seems to come in cycles..... this time it started with a cold ....... I lost sleep from my sinuses being stuffed for 2 or 3 nights and then I use more asthma meds... then i am at work in a hot room for three hours and I just can't calm down enough to get sleep , or I get bad sleep . I think it is an oxigen deficetcy when I sleep and that has been linked to MS or mylon depletion itself . I will try boosting my mag. amout to 1000mg's im at 500 ..... exercise seems to really help this. I do have cold feet and hands and my temp has always been a bit low ...... there was some mention of this with sleeplessness as well If i could just get good sleep without the use of drugs I counld move on to the next phase of my recovery which is meditaion......... Thanks ...Tom > > Tom, is your heartbeat fast and irregular at the same time? That is called Afibrillation
Guest guest
Thanks for the reply , I stopped taking cod liver oil because its $32.00 a bottle , but I don't remember having asthma this bad in the winter before . , boy there is no fooling around..... consitancy is the key . I have been eating lara bars and farmed salmon is the only processed foods I can think of. but my meat to veggie balence is about 3 to 1 with the meat at 3 ( fish ,turkey and chicken breast ) I am thinking of changing to 1 veg. 1 greens ,1 meat . I really wish I could go completely Vegetarian, but that does not work with the Best Bet Diet ...... all my best......... Guest guest
Tom, is your heartbeat fast and irregular at the same time? That is called Afibrillation and can be a sign of an impending stroke. However, it just sounds like you have a fast heartbeat or tachycardia so the first thing that comes to my mind is magnesium orotate to regulate the heartrate. Serrapeptase, bromelain, acetyl-l--carnitine and COQ10 are also great for cardiac function and to clean out the arteries. It could also be an electrical problem with your heart. You could get tested for neurocardiogenic syncope with a tilt table but I think the supplements I mentioned plus some Chamomile tea or passionflower would help alleviate these problems. If not, delve into it further . Just keep in mind that men usually have heart attacks because of calcification around the heart and magnesium pulls calcium from the heart. It is so good for so many things. A good dose is 1000mg divided morning and night. Guest guest
I've tried a lot of sleep aids, and the one that works wonders for me is the homeopathic Boiron " Quietude. " Recommendation is two under the tongue in the evening and two before bed, but I've found that only the two before bed gets me to sleep and through the night except for one bathroom visit. iherb.com has it for $7.34, 25 percent off retail, for 60 tablets. Guest guest
You are right Arlene, Farmed salmon is fed an unnatural " feed lot " type of food, which results in their flesh being a sickly grey color, so they add arificial/chemical colors to their food so their flesh appears to be the normal pink salmon color. The result is lower nutrient quality, and an increase in your exposure to the synthetic chemicals of the coloring. Wild is better.
