....

What were you taking, for thyroid, in September, before the draw... and up until the February draw?

Don't delete the labs, let them stay on when you reply....

From February of 2003 until around August 15th or so, 2003, I was taking 125 mcgs of Levoxyl, having never had testing for Free T3 and Free T4. Backing up to February, the so-called endo that I saw twice, last time February 11th, increased me from 100 mcgs levoxyle to 125 mcgs of same, based on a TSH of 9. something (you guessed it, he didn't believe in Free testing). I went ahead and took it up until that mid-August, at which time I cut it back to 50 mcgs and added 15 tiny little mgs of Armour in, for one week, then the second week I added 15 more mgs Armour to make 50 mcgs levoxyl/30 mgs Armour. I really never skipped a beat, when it came to staying on some sort of thyroid medication regularly. Anyway, it was on September 30th, a few weeks later, when I tested with HealthCheck for the first time having my Free T3 and Free T4 run. That's the first lab you see. I then dropped 25 more mcgs of the levoxyl, added 15 more mgs of the Armour, making it 25 mcgs levoxyl plus 45 mgs Armour, but around a couple of wks later, like a dummy, I changed the synthetic to the brand I was ordering for my daughter at the time, had what I strongly believe were allergic reactions to fillers in that synthetic, and decided to drop the T4 meds altogether, and bring my Armour up to 60 mgs, which is where I stayed until I believe, around the last week of December. I have written somewhere in a spiral all these changes, but I didn't write down when I started the 90 mgs, but I know that it was right before New Year's, 2004. That means I've been on the 90 mgs Armour, before testing on February 26th of this year, for around 8 wks. I added the 50 mcgs of Levoxyl back a couple of days ago to the 90 mgs, instead of upping the Armour some more. I'm puzzled about my red cell counts because I've had a corpuscle count like a bullfighter, even my last testing on September 30th. I KNOW I'm having that part done over, just to make sure it wasn't a lab error (hoping it was).

, this is all interpretation, based on research and experience.... but as I look at your numbers I see a marked improvement between the two tests... and is seems to be proportional.... BUT I'm gonna say that you need to increase the dose of Armour... Your TSH needs to come down more and the Free's need to both come up more..... The T4, if you are a good converter, will eventually bring up the T3... but to me, my opinion... you might be feeling better with both frees coming up....

You're still not feeling all that great and are seeking improvement, right?

The red count.... Old wives remedy that has always worked well for me... if you're game... beef liver, is one and another is things made with simmered bones, like a good soup stock. Simmering, not boiling, gets a lot of, gosh, brain fart, can't think of the words.... the marrow in the bones 'renders' out and the minerals and the components that are in the stock build the blood... That is why I make all the chicken and turkey jelly that I do. I freeze the jelly in chunks and use it in rice, as a soup starter and to start gravies... to give me all that stuff in my system. I've not had tests to confirm since I've grown up, just something I grew up doing to keep my blood healthy and every time mom took me into the doc she'd have it checked and would say we're doing good if the counts were good and if they weren't she'd start making more soup.

I admit that some of the stuff the 'old folks' did is kinda weird... but some of the stuff is actually for real....

anyway... them's my thoughts... ponder on them and see what springs to your mind, as it fits you.....

My goal is to knock both of these Frees into the upper portion, to the end, and bring that TSH wayyyy down! I feel better, but definitely not wonderful.

The red blood counts----That makes sense because the red blood cells are created within the bone marrow. I do eat a ton of red meat, so I don't really understand what is going on there, unless it's reflecting a B12 absorption problem, instead of iron problem. I keep reading that that is not uncommon for hypothyroid persons.

My red blood cell count is always low, though none of the doctors

seems concerned about it. It has never tested " normal " since all

this began. I always have enough other problems I guess I never

asked about it. I think your hemoglobin and hematocrit are more

imporantant than the RBC.

The trouble is that the hemoglobin is low, and of course, it sits inside the

red blood cells. I also have some variation is size of them. I'm figuring

that it is because the thyroid has been in a screwed up mode for over a yr,

if not longer. This problem I've never had in all my 52 yrs. I had a

hysterectomy 16 yrs ago, so I have no periods.

That sounds so much like me. I have a positive ANA, but other than

that, it's about the same. I have begun having that " golf ball "

feeling in the base of my throat, and my neck is sore and stiff,

especially on the right side. It hasn't gone completely away ever,

but some days it is much worse than others. Weird!!!

I'm sure that it's the thyroid, but I'm also having swelling in the glands

right in my throat. With all the allergies, the lymph swelling doesn't

surprise me, but the strange thing about the thyroid is that it doesn't make

a lump going forward, it expands sideways, but more toward the left side of

my neck. Then it mysteriously goes down. I'm owing it to thyroiditis,

which isn't necessarily goiter, rather inflammation. The medical

terminology -itis meaning inflammation.
