Guest guest
Hi ....sounds like trouble...no doctor will ever admit it's your implants. I've been to pain mgmt, ER, Neuro,Gp , Ps's....saline implants cause lots of problems, I only had mine for 2 1/2 years and had lots of problems and got very sick, now 4 months after having removed I am beginning to feel like me again, my advice it to have them removed. Good Luck
Guest guest
-, I am 40 and had my saline implants in for two years, if you type in my name the archives will post all my messages so you can read my story. I had burning in implants, and alot of fatigue and muscle aches. We all have similar type symptoms and have run from dr to dr who all tell us that it could not be from implants. I just had mine removed and am already better, but am still not normal yet, I expect to be normal again though. You need to find a PS who believes these can make you sick, my original PS thinks implants are the safest things in the world, so I had to find someone else. All at an extra expense. Read the posts on how the explant needs to be done, using drains and taking out all the capsule material. There are a list of drs posted on this site. It was not an easy decision for me either, mine looked fine. But towards the end I became so sick I felt I could die or get some really horrible disease soon, I just had to get them out. I feel for you, just read a lot and trust your instincts. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to our group. I am sorry you are starting to deal with the nastiness that comes with getting sick from implants. I know it is scary, and there are so many questions that need answers. We are here to help as much as we can. First of all, though you probably want a doctor to be able to help you, we have found, unfortunately, that doctors are pretty much clueless when it comes to implant related illness. Some even treat us poorly when we mention the implants and say that we think we are sick from our implants. They will come back with "implants don't cause illness" and stuff like that. So, I just wanted to caution you about believing that a doctor is going to be of real help. What they can do is order blood work to see if you have an autoimmune process going on. Many women have results that come back negative for anything, which is nice, but ultimately leaves more questions than answers because you know you are sick, but the doctors cant' find anything. That's when you start the medical merry go round. You can go to a primary care physician for the basic blood tests. If you want immune system tests, then you would seek a rheumatologist. If you have neurological symptoms, then you would seek a neurologist. In Florida, Dr. Vasey, chief of rheumatology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, is definitely one of the best choices for getting answers about your implant related questions. He wrote a book about implant illness. If you can see him, he's a great start! http://www.breastimplantinfo.org/what_know/controversy.html Just be very careful about getting on all kinds of drugs, and seeking to put a bandaid on a major health issue. The MD's are going to want to give you drugs to make you feel better, but in the long run, drugs do not cure, only relieve symptoms. If you want a long term solution, you have to get the implants out. No need for an attorney. There are no winners in court with breast implant related illness (except the manufacturers.) The next step is to seek an explanting surgeon. Florida has several that are good. I'll provide the contact info at the end of my letter. You will have to start seeking consultation for proper explant, so please look over our files section on what a good explant entails. Most doctors just want to go in and remove the implants, but you will need to have what is called a total capsulectomy too. It is where the implant capsule, (or scar tissue that you body has developed around the implant), is removed along with the implant, leaving your body as close to the same state as it was before implants. You want to be sure that no residual scar tissue remains inside of your body. Here is a list of Florida plastic surgeons that you can call about getting an explant. Please read over the explant info before you call them, so you can understand what they are going to do, and make a decision if they are going to do it right. Hope this helps you get started on the road to recovery. Guest guest
If you're in Florida, perhaps you could go see Dr. Kolb in Atlanta. She's very in tune with implant illness and has performed many many explants. The fact that you see a greenish brown leakage makes me wonder if you've got some type of infection or perhaps fungus or bacteria in your implants. I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly, I was there a little over a year ago and I'm so thankful to have gotten them out.
