Leyna,

Best wishes to you, we'll be thinking of you and look forward to

hearing from you after your surgery. Life can be good again, last

summer my husband and I were living in this tunnel, and once I had the

implants removed I saw the light at the end of that tunnel shining

through.

  • 1 year later...

sending you good karma!

Wonder if they could have him try on a pair of glasses that would improve his vision a bit so he could see the difference? If so, maybe he would be interested enough to sit still for the appt?

( ) Wish me luck!

My son is supposed to get his eyes checked today. He has never cooperated with any type of tests and to date has only had one eye partially checked twice and that was by his family dr. Bad eyesight runs in the family big time. I am really dreading this more than his regular dr appts. This eye dr is in a Walmart store so I am picturing myself carrying a screaming and kicking 6 yr old through the store to leave after getting the name of a specialist who may be able to work with my son.

My son had his eyes tested when he was in the first grade (about your son's age) and I don't think he made it through the whole thing but enough to get what they needed for a prescription. He just needed to get down and move around and not be so still all of the time. He didn't really have a problem with the exam itself. He used to have problems w/ dr's appts too, but he does so much better now as he's aged (11). We rarely have problems now unless he has to drink something. That's never fun or easy.

I sure do hope they get easier. It helped when I went because I told the dr there might be a bit of difficulty and I told him why. His grandson has autism so he dealt with my son great.

Dylan had one of those string things that connect to the arms of the frames behind his head. He wore those until the 3rd grade or so. We never had a problem with him not wearing them because he could see so much better with them on! He thought his new vision was SO COOL...

Re: ( ) Wish me luck!

Hope it goes well for him. Good luck,Betty

Congratulations on the successful exam!! I've been disappointed with a couple of eye drs we've tried, but we've had terrific success with the doctors and optical dept at Walmart. (I"m not trying to put in a plug for Wmart, but when I find something that works well these days, I feel like jumping for joy!) I hope the optician helped pick out a sturdy pair of glasses for your son. Both my boys have done well with glasses. They see so much better, before I knew it, I didn't have to remind them at all. The one problem that my son with AS had/has is that he fusses with the glasses a lot. He'll fall asleep with them on, twist them up and down while on his face,,,,etc.. As with so many other issues, we just kept reminding him to leave the glasses alone while he was wearing them. We also stop in at Wmart to get them adjusted. They are great about that. Good

luck! Mims <lisa_leonard@...> wrote: He did great during his exam! We all went together but unfortunately after mine, while waiting for me to pick out my frames he patted an employees back side. I was so embarrassed. Then he got bored because at that point he wasn't allowed to leave my husbands side and he had a meltdown but at

least we don't have to do that for another year. Any suggestions on getting him to keep his first ever pair of glasses on? Re: ( ) Wish me luck! Hope it goes well for him. Good luck,Betty <lisa_leonard@ sbcglobal. net> wrote: My son is supposed to get his eyes
