Guest guest
Sounds to me like Oticon would be smart to keep your business! What type of loss do you have Lori? Are you using sign? How do you find the Oticon aids? I often wonder how well they work but it is hard to ask a four year old! :-) Have you used an FM? Sorry for all the questions I hope you do not mind sharing. If you would prefere to mail me privately no problem or if you prefere to tell me to mind my own bees wax no problems too! :-) Thanks ~ and 's Mom At 01:31 PM 16/09/99 EDT, you wrote: >From: LCorc16@... > > >Thanks for the idea and I 'll keep you inform. Guest guest
Darby has a total loss in her right ear so only her left is aided . She's had amazing results with the widex though. The school is supposed to be purchasing a Phonic Ear telepin TMX system this fall so she can use her widex at school. She's been using a 471 for years so it should be an improvement, has anyone heard anything about the Tmx? I have a bilateral moderate loss. My loss started about 10 years ago and has been progressive. It is genetic. I started sign classes about the same time hoping to freelance as an interpreter when I stayed home with my children. I went to schooling partime for 4 years and then entered into the interpreter program and realized I was losing too much hearing. I am back teaching at the college level and I find it wonderful. We do sign and voice at home for Adurey but I realize how much I enjoy it and don't always have to say HUH? I wear Oticon digifocus and I love them. The other brand I had was so old. I am amazed at the technology. I don't use a personal FM but use them whenever they are available. I think of the future and probably would prefer to use an interpreter. I still find with an FM you rely on the signaling and some places it has made my hearing worse by the signal and I was better with just my hearing aids. I ma so happy I have both and I can chose! That's what I am trying to instill with my daughter that it's her choice but I need to teach her the sign so she may have that choice. I hope that helps. you can email me privately if you want it doesn't matter. Good Luck Lori
Guest guest
Lori Thank you so much for all the info. Hi , Don't forget, you will have to pay your audie a " FEE " to fit the hearing aids for you son. I recently got my sons aids one place and had them fitted by " a qualified " audie, and it cost me $1000.00, just for the fitting fee. Guest guest
A couple of weeks ago, I had asked this list for help in my situation. We are looking for new hearing aids for our son, and the audiologists we had been to were being less than helpful and rather narrow minded. I appreciate all the wonderful comments and suggestions and we have now found an audiologist only a half hour from our home who deals with a wide variety of hearing aid companies AND actually answered my questions and concerns in a straightforward and honest manner AND is willing to work with us to find an aid that is appropriate for our son and will meet our satisfaction as well as his. The question I have now is: Has anyone on this list purchased hearing aids through www.ahearingaid.com? I accidentally found them while looking for information on specific hearing aids. If all goes through, we can purchase a particular set of aids for my son through them at about $1500 less than I was quoted by our original audiologist. (In this case, the Phonak Nova Forte E4s, although I am not sure yet if that is what we will end up getting). Our new audiologist is one of their vendors and verified that this can be done. I just wanted to see if anyone else has experience working with them....or wants to check out the website and let me know if this is too good to be true. Thanks, S. Guest guest
Thanks. I had already asked my audie and you are correct about the fitting fee. I was including the $1000 fee (which is his fee for two aids) in my figure. It still amounts to almost $1500 less, which is why I thought it would be a good deal if it was legitimate. >Don't forget, you will have to pay your audie a " FEE " to fit the hearing >aids for you son. Guest guest
I have heard of auds like this and two of my friends had good experiences with theirs. I am not sure if it is the same group though. It'd be worth it to me if the warranty and support is there. The s wrote: > > > Thanks.
