good news

I dont have to have surgery after all. Dr gave me a shot of cortizone

right in the cyst. ouch! Anyway he thinks it will shrink. I sure hope

so.

Yay Jeana! Great news!!! I love it when people post good news, though of

course I don't mind when people post bad news either. Though a needle in

the cyst does sound rather painful. Reminds me of my biopsy. Yuck.

Best of luck and lots of " shrinking " vibes. I forget if you said you were

overweight or not (so many people were discussing that I lose track with my

poor overwrought chemo brain) but if you are, you can use some of the

shrinking vibes for your general body size, too. :)

Save some for me, Jeanna! I am creeping back up there and this time I can't

blame it on drugs. I'm not on any weight-gain causing drugs at the moment

except for cookies and chocolate bars. Although tamoxifen, which I will

start this spring, is known for weight gain. Alas. Zen buddhas have big

bellies and shaved heads and no breasts, so perhaps I will aim to be like

one of them.

Just remember; weight gain is better than becomine skin and bones

which happens to some people. My dad wasted away so much (liver

cancer) that I could almost pick him up. I much prefer gaining the

weight I have gained to looking at myself in the mirror and wondering

why I can't keep " the meat on my bones " . A friend yesterday told us

she had just finished her tamoxifen and asked her oncologist... " now

what am I going to have to blame my weight on because I understand I

will probably lose the weight I gained with the T.? "

Good advice, Doris. As I just said in a post about worrying about post-op

pain, I have a tendency to pick the little things to worry about (pain that

will go away soon, weight gain that can also go away) so I don't worry

about the big things (is my cancer coming back, will it kill me, etc). But

I can spare you all and try to worry more in private!

Jill

p.s.The ten pounds I gained from the anti-depressant for the

steroid-induced depression came off as soon as I stopped taking it. Then

they came right back because I have been anxious about my surgery and

whether my cancer has spread to my lungs and have been eating a pound of

chocolate or a box of cookies a night for a week now. Now I *suppose* I

could blame that weight gain on cancer because I wouldn't be so anxious if

I didn't have bc, but I didn't notice any cancer cells leaving my body and

force-feeding me junk food against my will! :)

That's the whole problem, Jeana! There is becoming too much Jill in the

world. :) I liked it when I was a svelte little Jill. I'm short. If I keep

gaining weight at this rate soon I will topple over if a bird poops on my head.

Jill, you can post big or little things...we can take it...remember we

are survivors and we can cope. I have been a real b*tch a couple of

times this week...had problem at the bank...they had put my son's

account so that it was on our ATM card and he could have gotten our

money if he had known or had noticed. Thank goodness he did not. I

was furious...took 3 visits to the bank to get it straight. Then I

went to another bank to deposit some money for our affiliate and the

teller kept trying to give me the wrong deposit slip. I tell my

family all the time, " today I am a b*tch so don't push me about

anything. " My friends love it when they hear me say that because then

they try to think of ways to " unb*itch " me!

I got you beat, Doris. Years ago when my daughter was a baby I took her to

a different branch library from the one we usually go to and had a problem

with my library card so they wouldn't let me check out a book. I actually

yelled the " f " word at the poor little old white-haired librarian! I

telephoned the minute I got home to apologize, but that must have been ten

years ago and I haven't gone back to that particular library branch since.
