Guest guest
So glad to see that you are now safe! Thank you for posting this Dana, as it is probably THE main reason for requesting hard copies of lab results, besides the other obvious ones. There are many reasons why doctors get sited, go on probation, etc....besides not being good doctors, and maintaining less than good office staffs is one of them. They are still responsible for these kinds of errors. I believe that it can be ditsy office crews, but, if not, pencilling in patient overloads that are beyond reason and keep the minds of employees so busy that these kinds of errors are made. If the doctor has had these complaints from patients before about their office crews, or lab services, etc...and have basically ignored them, they are still responsible for non-discipline. Have you directly told the doctor about this horendous error? If not, he/she needs to know now. BTW, have you any other problems than this with your thyroid? Guest guest
I am so sorry this happened to you!! I am upset & it did not happen to me!! I would NOT be going back to that clinic. But either way, I would make SURE that everyone is aware of the mistake they made & I would not be quite about it!! Stacey H. My general doc had trobleregulating my TSH levels and sent me to a endo. My appointment was onDec. 18 2003. I had plenty of lab work in their onsite lab. I wasfinally called back about my results on the 5th of Jan '04. As shespoke(nurse)I wrote down what she was telling me in between the 3interuptions. She didn't even bother putting me on hold I could hearher conversations. This turned into a 20 min. call on my cell phone. Finally, she told me what was supposely wrong. She said my vitimin Dlevel was defiencent. She called into my pharmacy six 50,000 i.u(normal dose is 400 i.u.) pills that I was to take one a week for 6weeks and return to the office on Jan. 29th. Well, since I have beenso sick this past year I have really been keeping up with my labresults. In addition to the results the nurse gave me I asked her tosend me a copy of the lab results. I almost didn't do this since I wasgoing in on the 29th. Thank God I did! I recieved them in the mailyesterday. AND, not only did we have differentages but she had a different doctor(within the same medical group) andit was marked out and my doctor's name written beside it. It was acopy of what she read to me on the phone because she had herhandwritten note of our conversation and my drugstore information.ALso, on one page it has my correct age of 33(but no birthdate) buthas the same patient ID number as on the other pages with her age of45.This experience has scared me so bad. I have felt worse since takingthe Vitimin D(V-D is actually a hormone, not a vitamin) although Ihave not had the kidney pain they say I would get with an overdose. Please always ask for a copy of your lab results, as you can see it isso important, it could have cost me my life.I'm not sure if I want to go to this doctor again. Guest guest
I second that. I shudder to think that she would be quiet about it! Guest guest
I dont' know if I'd even want to continue at that office... the staff handles the paper work... the doc fills it out and it's the staff that takes it from there....NOT good.. not good at all.... If all the ID info was correct but the docs notes belonged to someone else... then I'd blame the doc.. but if the name and info belong together and some staff member linked it to you.. what other records in that office are all F(((((ed up??
