I have heard that the medication Ephedrine can cause heart problems and

increased blood pressure. It is herbal if I am not mistaken. I have never

heard much good about it myself. Maybe this is something different though.

Type the drug name on a search engine and see what it says. You know while

I am writing this I wonder if it is the drug Ephedra that I am thinking of.

I looked up Ephedrine in my drug book (I do medical transcription) and it

says it is a decongestant and bronchodilator. this can increase heart rate

and blood pressure, but that is the prescription strength too. Sorry for

rambling. don't know if any of this made sense. Sorry

They're OK. They like iron. Iron likes B12.

Hi Tina,

At my last appointment I saw a doctor who is a GP and helps out at the

clinic once a week. He explained to me that they have been using Ephedrine

for 40 yrs to treat asthma with no problems. Of course, the dose is much

smaller than what is out there now for athletes. One of the problems with

the doses is that since it is herbal and therefore not regulated, one tablet

might be 100 mgs and the other could be 200. I don't remember what the

strength really is, but I have heard there have been deaths due to heart

failure.

He said the ones they are giving us are pharmaceutical and can only have a

7% range of difference in their strength per tablet. Also, the strength is

minuscule in comparison.

I tried Ephedrine over the counter and it scared me to death. Thought my

heart was going to come out of my chest. I swore I would never touch them

again. After talking with the doctor I am willing to try it at the lowest

dose and see how I do, but when I was there on Tuesday they were out.

Are you already taking the Ephedrine? If so, have you noticed any side

effects? Let us know what Dr. Owens has to say.

in California :)
