I would be interested in hearing about this as well. OH and how hard is it

to set the FM unit?? I mean should I really stay on top of things and see

what the settings are set at on the one my daughter wears at school or should

I trust they know what theya re doing?? This is their first year with the

Solaris.

Hi ! Audrey has the Oticon multifocus aides. The school bought the

Phonak Pico-Forte Behind the ear hearing aides and the Microlink Wireless FM

system. I wanted them to buy their hearing aides and all because in case

Audrey's own personal aides were broken she wouldn't have anything to use.

They agreed and also the audie pointed out they could be used again for

another child who might not necessarily wears hearing aides. I like it. We

had a problem in the beginning due to interference but he company fixed it.

We are having a problem now only because the school failed to take care of it

over the summer. The audie we see told me she has 4 other young kids using

this system and no problems.

The phonic Ear Solaris FM system is dependent on your own personal aides

and this is why didn't want it. We did give it to them as another price

quote. Our audie felt it was good but not as great as the microlink. That's

my 2 cents. Lori

The Solaris can be used in one of three ways:

1) Remove the hearing aids, fit button molds, and use the amplifier in the

Solaris

2) Boot the HA's with a DAI boot and connect them to the Solaris

3) With the TMX system (wireless FM)

Each one has it's advantages and disadvantages. If your child has

programmable or digital aids, then it would be a waste not to use either

DAI or the TMX.

I didn't mean to get you nervous - I was just reading the report the audie

sent to the special ed dept for recommendations for FM's. Maybe because we

didn't want them to use my daughter's aids. I guess explained it

better. We really wanted the Microlink FM. I only understood that The Solaris

FM we had to use our aids. Sorry if I scared you. Maybe it was a certain type

we were looking at. Lori

The Senso will boot into the 471, for sure, it should work for the Solaris,

however the DAI boots for the Sensos, at least the ones has, have

short cords, and aren't long enough to put the FM at waist level like the

Solaris was designed to be worn. Check this out first before purchasing

this system.

Sounds like she might have to......will this affect the sound quality at all?

Thanks .

Hi ,

I'm not but I thought I'd butt in. My son has the Widex Sensos

(C18s), and uses a Solaris FM. The cords for his Sensos are long enough to

have the FM at his waist, but maybe not for the other ones, which I think

you are getting (P38??). However, his FM also came with a harness that puts

the FM at chest level, so maybe your daughter could use that instead.

You can normally order the cords for the FM in different lengths. I do not

have experience with this brand in particular but I know with other ones,

the cords come in different lengths. Contact the manufacturer.

Good thinking! I will do just that. Thanks,

Have them find out the length of the cords before they order them, and then

take a piece of string and use your child as a model to see if there's

uses a 471 on a chest harness. We would like to move him to a

Solaris but the DAI cords that he has aren't long enough. Maybe there are

longer cords available now.

JD's DAI cord for his Solaris is 25 inches long (counting the plugs, the

cord itself is 24 inches long).
