I am 10 days out of surgery and I have two questions. Has anyone had

bad acid reflux after surgery? I never had it before and my doc gave

me pepcid but last night is the first night I have been able to

sleep. If you have had it what are your remedies?

Also, what is a hernia like? Eight days after surgery it was soooo

nice outside and I decided to kneel in my flower garden, weed and put

some plants in. I over-did-it. Now right next to my incision is a

sore spot.

Any responses are appreciated.

I only had it post-op when my staple line disrupted. Do you know how far down

the alimentary side you were rehooked?

Thanks,

having the surgery should have taken care of your reflux.. I am very

confused. I was told that you couldn't get reflux anymore afterwards

because the pouch couldn't make enough acid to back up, and the stomach

itself had no way to back up to your throat.

I haven't had any problems with it since the surgery, whereas before I had

it constantly. The strangest things would give me problems. Please keep me

informed on this, I am very confused now :)

hmmmm that doesn't sound right, but I don;t want to question your Dr since

they are all different.

My doc said the acid reflux should go away in about a month. I

believe the acid is made in the old stomach, dumping in the intestine

and coming up through the pouch into my throat. I do not know if the

lump near my incision is related. I go to the doc on Wed.

I had reflux a couple times after surgery also. When I went back to my

doctor for my 2 week post op visit, he said it was normal and in about a

month it would go away. Sure enough, it did. I haven't had it since.

I agree, . I was told that if there was reflux after surgery than that

meant possibly that the opening between pouch and intestine needed to be opened

up a bit more. Hopefully, her doc will get it straightened out on Wed.
