We have both a 20 yr retirement through a county retirement system. And a 25 yr

retiremnet through MERS no age on either. Our union is the POAM if you need

info on them.

Civilian personnel for the Indiana State Police are on the

same pension plan as all other state employees.

Our union did get one change that helped many, including

myself.

At one time I would have had to be 65 to draw 100% of my pension.

A few years ago this was changed to a " rule of 85 " . If your

age and years of service add up to 85, you can draw 100% of

your pension.

I hit the rule of 85... and pulled the plug....

Only been a month, but I don't regret it one bit.

The " rule of 85 " is something your union really needs to look

at. It doesn't have to be 85.. but you need something to

reward long term employees who wish to retire a little early.

If you can get the 20 or 25 years... even better...

I work for Covington Ky Communications and we are in the State Pension CERS-

27 years and out with a rule of 75...age and years must be 75....which is new

prior to 2 years ago it was just 27 and out---no matter what age..
