Sandy My dr put me on the oral lidocaine sometime last year I cant remember how to spell it mexil trilene ??? and it made my pain go out of sight!!! I ahd to come off it fast. The I tried the lidocaine patches about 6 weeks ago within 10-15 min of putting them on I was screaming in horrendous pain. I couldnt get them off fast enough. There is something about the lidocaine that hits the wrong pain receptors for me So from now on it is in my charts NO LIDOCAINE !!! The other caines dont have the effect on me it is weird. I am soo sorry she seems to be worse rather than better margie in NC

Hi Sandy,

I know I'm going to cause a controversy, but here's my opinion anyway.....

I truly believe that we absolutely must continue with physical activity.

Shanna hurts anyway, and I don't know that the PT will hurt more, or make it worse.

Surgery will make it worse. She needs to be sure that the atrophy doesn't get worse, but needs it to get better. PT and use is the only way to accomplish that.

I have been told by each and every Dr. that I have that my RSD is not much worse due to my physical activity. My feeling is that I hurt anyway, why not continue doing things. It is not, by any stretch of the imagination, easy.

I like my new Dr. (well, I like him as much as I could like a Dr.) and he really isn't too far for Shanna. He has an office in Newton, NJ which is probably about 35 miles from Shanna.

Maybe he has some new ideas......

I wish that Shanna had better results in Phila. I'm praying for her. I can only imagine what she is going through.

Hugs,

Jo

Jo, I agree. I went thru 6 weeks of PT and OT, 3x a week, and it didn't help

my pain lessen at all. Yeah, I understand the range of motion exercises, and

do them every night to try and stretch my muscles so that they don't cramp

up after a while, but hell, I have a 2 yr old and a 6 yr old. Now if that

isn't enough exercise a day, I don't know what is! I haven't had surgery, I

don't even have a doc or meds right now, so I can't comment on that part,

but I didn't get any relief from the Therapy. Just goes to show that what

may help one may not help another.
