Guest guest
Hi Tonia, You are describing my symptoms to a tee. I have two herniated discs impinging on nerve. I would suggest calling your doctor and he/she will most likely set up an MRI. The problem is if you need surgery what then? That is the dilemma I am now facing. I can't sleep either. It is in my left leg and I have a L4-L5 herniation. I really know what your going through hun and I feel for you. Jo also has the same thing as you and me and she is looking into a noninvasive treatment. Again, I lost the site and it was just resent to me yesterday, I am loosin it!LOL Hand in there and keep me posted. Hugs and a pain free minute, Deb Deborah Genatossio Debgena@... Guest guest
I hope that you don't mind, but I got one to add to your question. Has anyone who has the same, had a spot on the lower spine that feels like electricty runs thru it, and had a spot on the right side, right next to the spot on the spine hurt like crazy? I can't even touch my lower back or hip, plus I have been having muscle spasms on my right side, front and back. I went to the ER Yesterday cause of it, not walking not moving nothing. They gave me a shot of something for the pain, and a muscle relaxer. I went to bed at 8pm, and it is now somewhere around 3:30am and it hurts so bad and I am having some bad muscle spasms that woke me up. I can't lay back down, although sitting here is just as bad. Guest guest
Sheila, I am sorry to hear of what is going on with your discs. While I cannot offer any advice, I will keep you in my prayers that things will get better and you will not hurt so much. Kris
Guest guest
Hi Tonia, I've had the same problems with my herniated discs. I have found there are times when I have some problems with sciatica on top of the discs, which does goaway after a couple of days. That may be the stabbing pain that feels likes it's on the side. I have had Drs. tell me there isn't much you can do with the sciatica problem, other than rest. Some of my Drs. have suggested anti-inflammatories to help. It's one of the worst kinds of pain, you cannot move without that horrible stabbing, I know. I found it worse than labor pains. My newest Dr. has suggested "IntraDiscal ElectroThermal Therapy" for my herniated discs. He's waiting for Insurance Company approval now. Since it's non-invasive, he feels it safe for RSD patients. I can send the link to the website if you need it, but I think Deb posted that earlier. Hugs, Jo
Guest guest
Well, I went to the ER yesterday, cause I couldn't walk, lay down, move or nothing, and they gave me a shot and a prescription for muscle relaxers. the shot did not help at all! Now, I am also having sharp pains in my left ankle again, which I haven't had since last winter. At that time though, it was in both ankles. The muscle relaxers help just a little bit, they are to be taken 1 every 8 hours, and they last maybe 4 or 5. Does a herniated disk make the front of your side hurt too? It feels like some one has stabbed me on the right side from the back to the front. And with every severe muscle spasm, It automatically makes me run to the bathroom with diarrea. GRRRRRR. I have also had an Irritable Bowel since my oldest was born 6 1/2 yrs ago. What luck? My life in a sticker: If I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all! Tonia Conyers tonia197426@... Guest guest
Thanks. I'd rather be back into labor with my 6 1/2 yr old again than this. I was in labor with her for a total of 57 hours, 13 of it hard labor, and every single minute was back labor, no front! That even felt better! I blacked out the last 12 hours thankfully, although my hubby and sister in law adn parents all said that I was talking, and cussing at the nurse worse than a sailor every time she would check to see how far I was dialated. Now, since I have swore that if I ever have another labor like that again, I'll kill the doctor, and I'm putting up with this, it is not good. It hurts 10x worse today than yesterday when I went to the ER. the shot was worthless. I don't know why either. so, i'm doing the grin and bear it thing here. What else am I to do? I do have an appt with the PM quack again on Tuesday. I called and told them that it was a follow up after going to the ER. I'm nailing that jerk's ass to the wall this time. I'm gonna tell him that I want to see a neurologist, a good one that has a real diploma and medical license, not a toy one out of a cereal box. I'm also going to tell him where he can shove this Darvocet, and it ain't gonna be a pretty sight, cause I may just help him shove it in!!!!!!!!! Tonia Conyers tonia197426@...
