Guest guest
Kerry .. If you are not constipated and your bowels have been fairly normal to loose, you are having abdominal pain as well as fever .. then the ER doc had his head up his own butt!! Lower left quadrant abdominal pain with fever is a good sign of diverticulitis. Diverticulitis is a disease that occurs when small pouches in the colon bulge outward and become infected or inflamed. These pouches are called diverticula, and the condition of having diverticula is called diverticulosis. The infection in the small pouches causes pain that does not go away. A round of antibiotics is about the only thing that will help. I am not saying you have it .. but I am surprised that the doctor didnt at least check it out!! There is more info on diverticulitis on my web site. http://www.itzarion.com/diverticulitis.html hugs ..

Guest guest
Hi , I know a whole lot about diverticulitis, because my mom had almost died from it 12 years ago. She had a very infected "pouch" & was on massive IV doses of Cipro(which at the time was new & considered BIG time) for 3 weeks until it calmed down enough for her to come home. I had left a message on my doc's office's voice mail & got a very alarmed call back from one of the nurses who told me to return to the local ER, which I told her no way in BLUE BLAZES was I going back there, & then she told me to truck on up to the BIG hospital's ER to get this matter sorted out. Unfortunately, I was not up to the drive tonight & am in a pinch as Joe is on call this weekend & his mother's caregiver is not going to be here, so there's nobody to watch her. I am not in as much pain (maybe I am, but have too much on my mind to feel it), but I am still very weak & tired. I am loathing the fact that I took the damned laxative they prescribed because now I can't stop going. I am hoping that I will feel better tomorrow & can put this incident in the "odd lupus occurrences" file. If I am still bad off, I will have to wait until Joe comes back home tomorrow afternoon & take the drive up to the BIG hospital. I am hoping this crap isn't diverticulitis, I suspect either my uterine fibroid or the cyst that ate my left ovary is to blame, as I am in week 3 of my "monstrual" cycle. I'll keep the group posted. Thanks so much for the reply & have a nice weekend. hugs & such, Kerry
