Guest guest
Jeanne, I read about vomiting because of the anesthesia. I know when I had it made me feel sick (when I had my gallbladder out). I hope it doesn't do the same when I have my surgery June 12th.
Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, I didn't vomit in the hospital at all. Please don't worry. With all the pain medicine and anesthesia in you I doubt it would be painful. Take care, in California Open RNY - 03/29/02 272.5/242.5 - as of 04/24/02 Vomiting Hi Gang. I've been reading the rules of the pouch that were mentioned in yesterday's posts. In there, the doctor says that no vomiting will occur until the patient eats solid food and the wrong kind of food overstuffs the pouch. My question is concerning right after surgery while still in the hospital - How many vomited after waking from anesthesia or say in the first 24 hours? This is one of my fears, because I believe it will hurt so much. Thanks in advance for your answers. Jeanne in WI Age 38 Open RNY 05/21/2002 314/ /150-175 5' 8 " djgraves@... Guest guest
--- I had an emergency C section 19 years ago and woke up from that thinking that I couldn't breath. It was very frightening. Each time after I went in for surgery, (gallbladder, another c-section & Thyroid) I told the anesthesiologist (sp) of my concerns and I have never had a problem from that first time. So mention it to him when you talk to him the day of your surgery. It worked for me. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Jeanne, I asked my anesthesiologist to give me Zofran ( a anti-nausea drug that is given to cancer patients). they did that and it really helped me and I didn't throw up. I have had it before with prior surgeries because the anesthesia makes me so sick. So ask for that. Hope it helps. in West Michigan
Guest guest
I just was nauseated but no throwing up. They gave me something in my IV and it took it right away. I told my anthesoligist pre op that the narcotics made me VERY sick to my stomach and they put that in my chart and had it ready for me as soon as I woke up. That way you don't have to wait for the doc to approve and go through all the channels. Sometimes if you have a late surgery then it might be hard to get ahold of someone to approve the meds so do it in advance......hope this helps....Annee Hi Gang. Guest guest
Zofran is a wonderful anti nausea drug, both given orally and IV.. Was given this when I was battling constant nausea/ vomiting daily .. worked better than phenergan for me.
