Next is the radio-frequency treatment to my C-spine, then back to lumbar blocks trying to relieve some of the leg/knee pain... Then the Intra-discal procedure for my Lumbar spine. I'm not happy about any of this, but that last accident did not help me at all.

He confirmed my fears, that my RSD has spread through my arms, hand, chest, back, etc. (I'm trying to stay away from "full body")

Gosh, you have a plate full also. When are your procedures scheduled for? Sorry to hear that the RSD is spreading. I am having a great deal of difficulty handling that also, I was hoping that mine wouldn't spread anymore but I have to learn to deal with it.

Yesterday my family doctor increased the Dilaudid, changed me from Effexor to Celexa and started me on Prednisone for 15 days again. I have to get another blood test done this week again, there is a new Lymes test that he wants to run. I am going to the new pain doctor on Tuesday (in Freehold, NJ) and we are waiting to hear what the next step will be after going to court this past Tuesday. W/C is supposed to have two weeks to get things together. Their lawyer had incorrect figures and everytime he mentioned a figure or a date, I shook my head no. My lawyer said he'd be asking me questions mostly pertaining to medical information however the judge is the one who asked everything. He asked several questions and wanted the correct amounts and dates that w/c was wrong about. Then my hand went into tremors (I deal with them so much that I considered it a slight one) and the judge was in shock, he had the stenographer record his seeing my hand shaking a lot. We had hoped that everything would have been over with then but we have to wait still. W/C is trying to say that I am 'maybe 95% disabled' their own doctors, at least the last 8 of them have clearly stated that I am 100% permanently and totally disabled. I feel that w/c is just harassing us still, they have been doing that for so long and we have complied to everything they asked for. It does get discouraging after a while but I'm hanging tight onto my rope and will not let them wear me down, they are the ones who in our minds 'caused the RSD' and we are taking it step by step to the end.

Ok Danette, please do let me know. They got my bone scan scheduled for November 23rd, in for the injection at 11:30 and then back at 2:30 for the scan. It is only in Toms River so about 20-25 minutes, considering it is "black Friday" there's no way we will be going near any stores so we were thinking that if the weather is nice that we may take the 'girls', we have 2 Golden Retriever's ( 4 years old, had her since she was 10 weeks old and Haley 2 1/2, who we adopted in August) to Seaside, have to check into it as we have heard that they are allowed on the boardwalk during off season. This will also take my mind off the test. Watching our 'girls' playing, etc. is calming.

Let me know when you are heading in this direction and we can try to set something up and I don't see it in the near future but should we be heading out that way will let you know.

Hi Jo,

Yes, I had one surgery on October 4. To move the sural nerve to behind

and just under the back of my knee. My doctor also found an accessory

nerve feeding off the sural nerve and severed and moved that one too. So

I have a 4 inch scar in the back center of my leg just below the knee.

He also went into my ankle where I had this sand burr feeling right

between the achilles and outside fibula protrusion on your ankle. I have

a 3 inch incision there where he found dried, withered nerve branches

that he removed. The sand burr feeling is gone now!! My calf also feels

better so this surgery was successful in doing what it was supposed to.

I did have a blood clot in my arm from the blood test and I did have a

flare up of RSD but I just took a lot of different pills and put myself

to sleep for a few days. Things settled down, thankfully, and I am on

the mend getting ready for part 2 of the surgery.

The second surgery, the main one, will take place probably the third

Tuesday in January 15 in Richmond at Retreat Hospital. I have never been

there and am a little anxious as this will be a much more involved

surgery. My doctor will have another doctor assisting to make sure I get

the best possible outcome and to offer his views on how to proceed during

the surgery. My doc said he will fix the torn ligament/tendon and remove

the 2 lesions as that is what I want. I don't want any more surgery

after this so he has to do it all. Problem is the lesions are hard to

get to so he will either have to drill straight through the tibia (big

leg bone) or cut it in half horizontally to get to the lesions on the

back of the talus. He will remove the lesions and scope my ankle again

as I probably have a great deal of what they call synovitis (excess

growth of synovial tissue). He said there are ligamentous chips in my

ankle that are causing the lesions and they need to be removed via scope.

Then he will fix the lesions, then the ligament and anything else he

finds wrong and we will be done with surgeries. If after all this I am

not better we'll go for fusion I guess as that is my only other option at

this point. But I know this surgery is going to work. I am going to get

better and have less pain once this procedure is over and I have healed.

I firmly believe that and I think that goes a long way in the healing

process.

I am still working on the voice issue but not making any progress there.

Maybe once the RSD is under control again it will get better on it's own.

My shoulder is a bit achy but not painful like my leg. I just need to

use it more. That doctor mentioned maybe having to do more surgery so I

haven't gone back to him. I just want to get better and move on. Now

GEICO, the insurance company of the other driver that ran the red light,

is sending me for an IME on December 12. According to my attorney, this

doctor is a good doctor, not an insurance doctor and I will get a fair

opinion. Nothing like the last IME at all. We gave and took depositions

on November 27 for that car accident and the other driver was not clear

about anything, very confusing. She didn't mention that she was talking

to another foreign lady there at the scene either. I don't know who she

was or what they were saying as she doesn't speak english. How can

anyone live in this country for 8 years and not speak english? I think

that is a crime! If they want to enjoy our country and it's freedoms the

least they can do is learn to speak our language. Anyway, GEICO totalled

my car and paid me for it so the medicals should fall into place as well.

Their own claims adjustor said she was at fault and I had witnesses too.

Just the legal game going on to see who wins I guess. I owe about

$25,000 for the shoulder so far and hope to get enough to have about

$20,000 or so left over for pain and suffering after attorney's fees. I

could sure use it to pay off some other bills and buy a new car, mine has

been totalled 3 times now and is looking a bit battered and bruised. It

did fine driving to ALA and back though and is a very comfortable car to

drive. I may give it to my son for his first car since he'll probably

have an accident anyway.

How are you feeling Jo? How is your neck and shoulder? Leg? Everything

else? How is your business faring under the world events? Hope things

are okay and business is good Jo. This is going to be a difficult year

for a lot of 'normal' people and children. There are a lot of military

people here who had to go to War and won't be back before Christmas. Too

bad we can't just put the war on pause long enough to enjoy the holidays

with all our families present and then get back to real life. Maybe some

day in the future they will have war electronically and predict a winner

without the loss of life.

Well, it is 11 am and I haven't done anything meaningful today. Got to

get busy and get something accomplished. I am wavering again on the

verge of depression due to the upcoming surgery. I do want it but I also

know what it means as far as pain and recovery goes. I have to stay

overnight in Richmond and will have to stay off my foot for somewhere

between 3 to 8 weeks depending on what he finds and how he fixes it. No

picnic when your bedroom and bathrooms are on the second floor! I will

survive, I always do.
