I don't know of the condition that you are referring to, but it just makes

sense to have the vision checked for kids that rely heavily on vision to

communicate. My kid's school requires vision exams yearly. is

slightly nearsighted, so he needs to wear glasses in class.

I agree Chris. What I found hard to believe is that in the school district

we moved out of last year, when I looked at the school records (which they

let me hand carry during the move) I found out my son had failed that years

vision screening - yet nobody had bothered to let me know about it. Just one

of the many zillion reasons I'm glad we no longer are a part of that

district. As a point of comparison, in the new school, his second day of

school his teacher sent home a note saying JD was having problems seeing the

blackboard and I should have his eyes checked.

Hugs to all,

Kay

Does he wear glasses? If so, how often, and how does he feel about wearing

them?

He always wears them in his classes at school (as reported by his teachers),

but doesn't like to wear them at home. I figure he's old enough (12) to know

when he needs to wear his glasses, and when he doesn't. But it has been a

year so I guess it's time to have his eyes checked again (wouldn't have

thought about it if we hadn't been discussing it, thanks.)

's 8 and feels about the same way as your son, he wears them every

day at school, but after school, it's rare. We make it a point to make sure

he takes them to the open caption movies and other events where the center

of attention is far away.

Thanks,

Chris
