Guest guest
A few years back we had heavy rain storms that flooded one of our contract cities massively. We only had 3 people on phones and for 2 hrs straight we answered 9-1-1 calls only, one after another. We had to send emergency rescue crews out to many intersections to rescue people trapped in vehicles when the water rose so fast people couldn't see it coming. My daughter called in on 9-1-1 to say water was coming into her home (unfortunately she was one of many with this same problem) I verified no one was in danger and told her to call back if things became hazardous. Later I learned that one of the 9-1-1 calls I answered was from a Sergeant of ours who was trapped in her car. These we stay on the line with until they are rescued. She later sent a me wonderful thank you for keeping her calm, saying I saved her life. Hard part is remembering her call from all the others we dealt with that day, but it was great to know our efforts were appreciated. And to this day she is always the first person to acknowledge dispatch and all we do. Debbie Ventura County, Ca
