Guest guest
My name is Michele. My husband, Bob, was diagnosed with prostate cancer last week. He is 51. I am 36 and we have two kids who are 13 and 7. I also have two stepkids who are 21 and 23. Thankfully he had been getting regular physicals and having his PSA checked regularly. I have two brothers-in-law who have been diagnosed. One chose not to have any treatment and the other who had surgery. Also, my dad had surgery a few years ago. Needless to say, we are scared. The doctor's office gave us a book to read through and we go back to talk to him in about two and a half weeks to discuss our options. He said that this is a slow to moderate type of cancer. His 'overall Gleason score and pattern is a 3+3=6. He sent home the pathology report which has a bunch of stuff that I don't understand and not sure if anyone one here would be able to put it in lay terms or not so I won't type it all out. We have chosen not to tell our two kids at this time but we will before he has surgery (if this is the route we go). Our kids (especially our daughter) is so young it's going to be hard. At least when my dad told us, I was in my 30's and could grasp it more easily than our kids will be able to. Anyway, just wanted to give a short intro. Look forward to learning from you all!
