Carol,

I developed a sneaky staph infection the year before I was dxed. I developed

a series of odd raised boil-like mounds on my hands and arms. My

dermatologist (who was the first to suggest an insulin resistance problem)

treated me with oral antibiotics (I needed a double course), but also had me

use microban ointment under fingernails and in my nostrils for several weeks.

What was interesting was that before a boil erupted, I had a slight itchy

sensation in the area first. Good news...no reoccurances since.

I did look at pictures and mine were large eruptions that were in odd places,

like fingertips and sides of knukles. They had the red, inflamed look and

pussy tops we associate with infection.

They did culture as staph and I had just spent a week with my daughter in a

hospital and could have picked it up there. That is a scary thought!

Thanks

You know, kiddo, that sounds like granuloma annulare. Have you done a web

search and looked at the pictures of it?
