Guest guest
" Why would humans, who evolved on the savannahs of Africa, require the fats found in cold-water fish? " A question from Allport, one that I ask too. Omega 3 and 6 fats are made in the leaves of plants and seeds, as you stated. These fats are used by the brain, nerves and eyes. Read " The Queen of Fats " by Allport. It's about the fats that are missing from the American diet and how to replace them. It is her concept that supplementation is not enough when the fats are so critical to health. Balance of omega 6 and 3 is important. Taking an omega 3 supplement can throw the balance off in some people. Those two fats compete with each other for space and each has a different function. > > > Janet Orchard wrote: > > As I'm sure you know, the necessary Omega oils are found mainly in oily fish > but also in spinach, kale and other dark green leafy vegetables, flax seed, > evening primrose, sunflower seeds, borage oil, blackcurrant oil and some > nuts and seeds.
