911-joint dispatch centers

I am new to 911console. We aren't allowed to have internet access at work so I

must do this from my home. And, finding time to go on the internet is not

always that easy. Anyway, I am currently on a fact finding committee to looking

into the pros and cons of consolidation of dispatch centers. We are currently

have two dispatch centers in our county. The Sheboygan Police Dept, Sheboygan,

WI dispatches for police, fire and EMS within its city limits. The Sheboygan

County Sheriff's Dept dispatch deputies, fire and EMS outside the city

jurisdiction. Both centers are unionized. The City center employes 10 f/t and

10 p/t dispatchers. The County Center employes 12 f/t dispatchers. Has anyone

out there recently gone thru a consolidation of dispatch centers. Would you do

it again or not. Problems encountered. We tried to do some research on the

internet but there isn't too much out there on this subject. If anyone has any

information/opinions/suggestions, please fee free to forward it to me. Thanks
