Guest guest
For future reference - have your doctor write a prescription for Silvadene Cream. Just a tiny bottle. Keep it in the kitchen. If you get burned, slather it on the burn and KEEP it on the burn. Usually by next morning the burn is almost gone. I picked up a pan handle that had been sitting above a neighboring burner. My thumb and forfinger were blistering up wonderfully. By morning they were only red and sore and next day almost gone. Saturday I picked up a 350 degree pan handle. Again, by morning only one small bllister was left and it didn't hurt. That stuff is old fashioned and WONDERFUL Janssen Southern California ilea.wj@... Guest guest
Sandi that is quite common. I even went to bed one night with my hand in a baggie inside a big baggie full of ice cubes setting on a chair next to the bed. But eventually, if you can stand it, taking your hand out of the ice will let the nerves deplete their " substance P " and the pain will diminish. A pain killer would help also. I took Tylenol 3 last week when I burned myself. Janssen Southern California ilea.wj@... Yesterday 3 1/2 Alessandra (Sandi)ICQ #2695225 Sandi,Glad that your hand is doing better, but it's too bad that you arenot having success on the turtle menu. A couple of questions, firstthe obvious: could it be monthly water retention? Second, if youare like some people, it can take a few days for the way you areeating to show up on the scale. Hopefully you will go down verysoon as a result of the turtle eating. But did you do any nonatkins eating right before starting the turtle menu that could havecaused your one pound gain? Do you know if you have a food allergyto anything on the turtle menu? Could it be a combination of anyof those factors?Oh yeah, are you drinking the water?Jean

Guest guest
Sandi, Are you taking any pain medications for your hand? I've heard they can cause a problem sometimes with this WOE. Also, that sort of trauma may have shocked your system into hanging on to all the fat it can while it waits to see if your going to try and hurt it some more. Don't worry. . . 2 days into this is too soon to be able to give it a fair assessment. Terry It's going to happen for you.
Guest guest
Sandi: You're not going to like what I'm going to say to you. But I think it's important that if you're going to try the turtle menus that you try them from beginning to end. Even if you're not hungry and have an initial gain, you should follow the menu. That lack of hunger sounds exactly like someone who went into ketosis. You might have held onto a little pound or two right at first because perhaps you're getting more fat into your diet than you were previously and it caught your body off guard. Or perhaps burning your hand made your body need extra fluid. At any rate, another thing you could try (don't shoot me) is increasing your water intake. Even though " theoretically " I should easily be able to get by with 64 oz. water according to all the charts (because I'm at goal now) I start to put on weight when I don't drink at least 100 oz. My body *really* likes water. I just got used to it. I don't drink *anything* else but water on a daily basis. Like once a month I will add one of the following a breve or a diet soda or a cup of tea. Heh, drinking any of these items makes me thirsty! *laugh*. I think that if you actually stuck to the plan for the whole two weeks without straying from it (I know it's tough, but you have to work at it) that you would probably see some results. Two days with a 1 pound gain and then not sticking to it because you didn't get what you wanted is not following the plan. Sometimes when you first start induction there is an initial gain, but it will drop off again after a while. I'm sorry to be so brutal, but no one else is so I'll be the you know what today! Guest guest
You can sleep with a wet cloth and ice bag on top. It is important to keep the burned part under cool running water for 10-15 minutes and then continue with cool wet clothes or ice (barrier between ice and skin) until the pain subsides. Remember to drink extra fluid as the burn heals. > Just had to put in my 2 cents! You shouldn't sleep with your hand in water. I had a friend that burned his hand one night, so he thought it would be a good idea to put it in water and try to go to sleep. Not a good idea after all. What you've heard about it is true... Kind of like the guy who told be the best thing for a hangover was to drink a big glass of milk. Sure enough, it did work...but he didn't tell me about what happens in-between, however. Huggy Bear " It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong. Guest guest
, I use Outlook Express but feel certain you have an option probably under mail rules which might be under Tools in your Netscape program. You would be blocking the person who sends the email, not blocking return receipts per se. I do believe that you may also have an option in Netscape to refuse all receipts. That, too, is probably under Tools. Good luck! Elaine Re: Good Advise > I use netscape and have not been able to figure out how to block them. > Would love it if you could help me.
