Absolutely, I agree that all those artificial sweeteners have no place in a healthy diet.

I have not ever willingly ingested saccharin, nutrasweet, sucralose, aspartame, or any other of those freaky sugars.

They taste just gross to me. Anyone else? But my main concern was always that they were not natural! They are chemicals!

The only sweeteners I allow in my diet, believeing them to be safe to use are Sucanat, stevia, and raw honey. (And I think limiting them is a good idea too!)

Thanks for sharing your experience Sandy. Very important.

Merry Christmas!

Artificial Sweetners...specifically Splenda

Ladies...I have recently become convinced that some of my symptons are related to Splenda and artifical sweetners. For those that do not know me, I had my implants taken out in July of 2006. There was an almost immediate benefit. My horrible skin rash went away and my energy levels went up. However, I continued to periodically develop some blurry vision, some bloating and increase level of joint pain in my feet as well as a strange "tingling" that felt almost like a burning. I realized that while I knew of the dangers of articial sweetners, specifically the new Splenda, I had allowed myself to believe that ALL of my symptons were related to my implants and started to drink my loved Diet Coke again and to use articial sweetners in my coffee...etc.About 5 days ago, I decided to do another test and get off of all the artifical sweetners that had found their way back into my life. My vision is no longer

blurry, my feet do not tingled, the bloating is much better. So for those of you that have these symptons, you might consider doing your own test and get off artificial sweetners for a week to see how you feel. It is so easy to get seduced into using this stuff, since it is everywhere and in practically everything. Implants may have made us "supersensitive" to the chemicals found in a lot of things. Or ...vice versa ...for that matter. Spenda has 3 chlorine molucles attached to a sucralose molecule. Some researchers liken it to a pesticide and chlorocarbon.

I know and I too have talked about them before. For some of us who

were long term decade long users....it is easy to let them slip back

in. I just thought I would share my experience.

Thanks Patty. I had Stevia in my pantry...and pulled it out again.

We have been pretty consistent on this group

warning about artificial sweeteners.

Yes, many of us have bandied back and forth

about these sweeteners. I avoid them completely.

I occasionally use Xylitol and real maple syrup

in small amounts in addition to honey. I found

stevia to be bitter, but may try it again. I

have not tried sucanat. I hear Agave nectar is

quite good and safe to use in small amounts.
