Guest guest
What ever your biggest temptation is --- bring your own modified version! If it is the desert table --- go get some fat free cookies and crush them to make a crust - then fill your crust with you favorate pudding made with skim milk. Do fat and sugar seperate! If it's a sanswich and chips kind of thing -- grab some fat free/low cal pringles or pretzels to bring with you, and make your own sub with healthy choice meats. If it's bbq - bring a chicken or turky breast to throw on the grill...do what ever you need to do. Eat a big bowl of mellon/fruit or vegies/salad before you go so your not staraving and don't forget to bring your water bottle. At our reunion a few weekends ago I walked around with my water bottle and a bunch of grapes. I didn't bother waiting till I was hungry - I just kept eating my grapes. Ang > Well hi everyone. Guest guest
Vic, Thanks for the prayrs but I ate all wrong!! I only gained a pound though it could be worse. I will loose it though cause I am right back on the diet! THere was so much food I think they had to give alot of it away. My husbands distant family is soooo nice. They all just give you huggs and complement you so much. I got complements on my skin and and my hair and my outfit. I haven't had so many complements in years. It's good to hear good things once n a while it's what keeps you going. There was alot of really beautiful women there but they were all really nice. THere is this one lady I think she is a cusin she is almost 50 and when I saw her from far away she looked like she was about 20. Beautiful long natural red hair perfect tan. SHe was really nice too. THere was this one lady though who got after me for drinking the crystal light. SHe said we need to make sure it doesn't run out. I figure she felt I didn't need it I guess. I do though so I drank as much as I wan'ted. She was the one who poned about two big bags of chips and two bags of chicken on me and wouldn't take no for an answer. I tryed to say no we don't need any more junk food and her answer was oh just give it to the kids. Well like they need all that either. I put it up and I will let them only have a little everyday until it's gone. Oh and the chicken I don't care if it goes bad. Well I ate like a pig but I had a really nice time. It's really nice to get to see all the family. Most of them live in south and north dakota so they came along way for this. Michel Well hi everyone. Guest guest
Michel, You know for occasions like this sometimes its ok to just say fudge it. It looks like you know what your doing and your back on track so its all good. The main key is in doing something, knowing what we did, and not regretting it and do you know why?...Because if you dont regret it then its not an issue. You will simply begin eating the way you usually do (healthier) and not give what you ate a second thought. Glad you had fun and got alot of compliments. It sure makes our lives so much better when we get them. San Well hi everyone. The family reunion is > today at 10 tell about 5. > > Everyone pray for me to stay strong!! Guest guest
San, Thanks for saying sometimes it's ok to fudge it since I was feeling alittle bit depressed about that 1 pound gain. I just had a cup of coffee and am getting ready to drink some water then I plan on getting on my exercise machine for 30 min and I know i will feel better. You know whats weird is when I did eat yesterday I thought I was going to throw up since my body wasn't use to that kind of fuel. It's like putting cheap gass in your car and then it runs like crap for days. I woke up this morning and still felt that yucky feeling. It's hard to belive that is how I use to eat everyday and even more of it too. In away failing in a day helps you to really see how much you have really changed! Michel Well hi everyone. Guest guest
Michel, I know just what you mean. I have let myself overindulge sometimes and I can feel the difference now. I feel bloated and lethargic and cant sleep. When I eat better I get my energy back and don't feel like I weigh double. See its good that you splurged now you know which way you rather feel and don't worry about the pound you'll lose it but the feeling you gained is what counts. We have to be real here. There will be times when I dont care what diet I'm on I will eat whats on the table, I'll maybe eat moderately, have one decent plate instead of 2 indecent plates but I'm gonna eat. LOL Chin up, smile, and just move on.... Take care, San Well hi everyone. The family reunion is > > > today at 10 tell about 5. > > > > Everyone pray for me to stay strong!! Guest guest
Thanks San, I feel the same way. If I am going to go some place where there's all this food layed out in frunt of my face and it's a special day then I am just not going to try to fight it. I just don't want to have too many special days if you know what I meen! Michel Well hi everyone. I try to eat moderately, but I don't worry about every bite of food. I have learned a few defense strategies to help. 1) I bring a big bottle of my favorite sparkling mineral water. (This happens to be Gerolsteiner, which is $0.89/bottle at Trader Joe's. It's about 1 liter.) I keep that near me and pour water. That way, I have something " fizzy " to substitute for calorie laden drinks. 2) I bring a fruit platter and a vegetable platter. That way I can eat those. 3) I've learned to make some bean dips, which are very low in calories. That way, I have a healthy choice that I like. By doing this I make sure there are some low cal things I like at the gathering. I can eat those if there is nothing else reasonable. I do eat some of the stuff other people bring-- but having the stuff I like there means I don't eat as much of the other stuff. My theory is: If I can cut out 70% of the other fattening stuff other people bring and replace it with healthy stuff I bring, I'll be ok in the long run.
