Guest guest
Kerri Have you ever heard of a child testing positive for a loss in a audiogram and not on the ABR? My daughter is 3 and is a late talker. She gains language in chunks. And she really has made a lot of progress. Could this result happen from a fluctuating hearing loss? My audie has done ABRs on CP kids, DS kids, and plenty of others all the way up to age 18 (she's strictly a ped. aud.). Of course, you want to avoid general anesthesia on anyone whenever possible, but sometimes this is the best route to go when there's confusion. --kerri

Guest guest
Sheri when you say she gains language....spoken English or signs? Does anybody know about Auditory Neuropathy? I forget if that is what is indicated when the ABR is normal and the audiogram is not - or CAPD? Sheri wrote: >- My daughter is 3 and is a late talker. >She >gains language in chunks. My daughter's ABR was fine borderline to normal but at times her audiogram would show much bigger dips. The audiologist says this shows a fluctuating hearing loss and help in showing proof how vital it is for the school systems to intervene. my daughter is also three. Is your daughter getting services from your town or city? lori
Guest guest
Lori, Hi it's Sheri again. I should read all of the posts before I respond. does not at this time get any public services. We are tying to do everything privately but I can see an end to that coming very soon. We are having a problem figuring out what is going on with her. Where do you live and what kind of services does your daughter get? Sheri
