Guest guest
Something kinda weird happened this afternoon. Miranda was in the kitchen making a sandwich. She came into the living room and gave me her left aid and said it hurt. It didn't squeal when I cupped it in my hand. I checked the right one and it was off too. The thing is, they were both on and working before. She said that she was making her sandwich and they were loud and that they suddenly got quiet. These are Phonak Piconet programmables and they have a remote for turning them on and off. We live on a very busy street. Is it possible that someone's cell phone turned the aids off? Or are they malfunctioning? I find it very odd that they would both go off at the same time. Barbara Handley " A lot of us are working harder than we want, at things we don't like to do. Why? We've had batteries go out after that time. Batteries are fine----two full green lights on the tester. Barbara Handley " A lot of us are working harder than we want, at things we don't like to do. Guest guest
I don't know if this is actually what happened, but sometimes when batteries are going out they will do this. They go on off, on off and then dead. If they're put in at the same time, then they probably will die at the same time. That said, something could have reprogrammed them. Guest guest
Four days could still be dead batteries..did you test them again after they went out. We've had batteries go out after that time. The battery tester came from Phonak and is specifically for hearing aid batteries. It has two green lights. When both are lit the batteries are fine, when only one is lit you need to change them. Just red means the batteries are dead. Barbara Handley " A lot of us are working harder than we want, at things we don't like to do. Why? It figures! Guest guest
We were told once that the 675 batteries used in Jakes Free Ears needed to be tested on a voltmeter, not just a battery tester. They need to be at least 1.2 volts to give the aids enough power. Could this be a problem with those aids I wonder???? Just a thought. And they've only been in the aids for 4 days. Make sure that you hold the tester lead on the battery for at least 30 seconds. The newer long-life Zinc Air batteries keep their voltage up until the bitter end, but they can't push the current that power aids need once they get to this point. If the needle on the tester slowly drops, the battery is about to die.
