Guest guest
Hi Ali, It appears that you (as well as your aunt) live in Nova Scotia since you mentioned going to the IWK in Halifax. The doctor you want to see in Halifax is a young neurosurgeon by the name of Simon Walling. He was in Saint , N.B. until just recently. He is the specialist who I believe Sponagle (from N.B.) and Wanda from Newfoundland saw when he was at the Saint , N.B. hospital. He is now in Halifax (not sure which hospital) but is apparently plagio knowledgeable and has prescribed banding. I would ask/demand your ped/family doc for a referral to him.It will then be out of your primary care doctor's hands and she won't have to worry about it. It appears your ped/family doc is not very plagio knowledgeable. I don't believe many children have been treated with this in Nova Scotia to this point so more than anything your ped is likely suffering from acute ignorance about plagio. Simply demand the referral to Dr. Walling and he will evaluate your child. All the best, Mark ('s dad) > First off, thank you ALL for your support-- this is all I live and breathe right now, and its so great to have people who understand what I am going through. > > In Canada you can't just go and get evaluated, you HAVE to be referred through a ped to even be seen, and my doctor, as you know, if very very ANTI-banding. > > I spent yesterday making calls to clinics and what-not trying to find someone with the ability to make the referral for me, with no luck (although I know an assistant at one that im going to work on) > > I emailed my aunt this morning, who has lived in nova scotia all her life and is an elementary school teacher, to see what kind of persuasive resources I could come up with. > > If I haven't gotten anywhere by monday, I am going to call every damn ped in the book until I get one to take me-- or I am parking my butt at the IWK (childrens hospital) until someone listens to me. > > I am so sick and tired of everyone saying.. oh its not that bad... and then turning around and scaring me with cranio.. and then making me wait weeks to even get it looked at. WTF?!?! I guarantee if this were her son she would not be just now checking into cranio after me bringing it up at EVERY appt since he was two weeks old. Let me tell you-- if he DOES have cranio, I will NOT hesistate to sue. Not for a new york minute. She has kept telling me its plagio and that it wont get worse, etc.. HELLO I'm not blind. > > Anyway---- what I wanted to ask the canadians was... the person she sends me to for the cranio exam, do they have the ability to refer me to ortho? > > Thanks again everyone! > > Ali
