Guest guest
, I agree with you about the ADA magazine, too many ads ad all those high-carb recipes put me off. The best diabetic publication , for my money is Diabetes Interview. (It's the only one I subscribe to.) They do take ads but at least they don't print recipes. Also, Dr. Bernstein is on their board. They also have a website, it is www.diabetesinterview.com Give it a try. Lots of good stuff in it. Vicki

Diabetes Self Management http://www.diabetes-self-mgmt.com/ is another good magazine. >> This magazine also prints lots of high carb recipes and uses the exchange system. Not for me! (But it's pretty slick). Also lots of ads. Vicki
Guest guest
This makes me wonder if in fact the ADA recommends stuff that is in our bests interests or recommends things by donation amounts. I at one time subscribed to their magazine. Some of the information I found helpful, but over 1/2 the magazine was ad pages. I wish the diabetics could have a magazine like consumer reports, who accepts no advertising (of course consumer reports takes a few pages of mags each issue to advertise their own publications). ottercritter@... wrote: > Here's the list of corporate sponsors the ADA recognizes, in three > different > levels of contributions. Guest guest
Well, I don't know where the money goes, but directly from their web site, in the presidents message we have this..QQuote We have a lot to be proud of. For the first time in the Association’s history, we reached the $150 million mark in total income. From another page we have a 99 fiscal year expenditure of 18 million for research grants. Any other input? Sam

To claify my position, and my position only: I don't think the ADA is necessarily a " bad " magazine. I have read some informative articles in it. It is just not my preferred diabetic magazine. And I was saying that I wish there would be a magazine available to diabetics like consumer report, with no ads. I would certainly be willing to pay more for a magazine with no ads. > > Public website for Diabetes International: > http://www.msteri.com/diabetes-info/diabetes_int > > >
