There is a magnet school in the Denver area that has had a lot of good press. The folks here that are trying to start a magnet school Bi-Bi program went up there and were pretty impressed. I'll ask the name and exact location and post it later, that is if someone else doesn't have the info. handy RoseAnn
Guest guest
Orla, There is a program in Denver called the Hear At Home, ran by Jill Bader.. She is wonderful with small children.. If these children are older, she knows the school districts that have mainstreamed programs in them.. Tell your friend to look up Hear At Home in the phone book in the Denver area.... Guest guest
I'm sure many different sources say many different things. But this is what I read in a book called Low-Fat Living, that I own. It was written by K. Ph.D. In this book is a lot of information and research cited from various sources. On the subject of necessary fat consumption, the author has this to say: (paraphrased) Supposedly the recommended 30% of calories from fat is still too much for extra health benefits. Meaning you are still at the same risk for heart disease, and whatever else eating lots of fat does to our bodies. The body only needs 4-6% of calories from fat to function normally and properly. That is it!!! However, the author recommends aiming for anywhere between 10 & 25% of calories from fat because 4-6% is nearly impossible for most Americans to achieve. Also keep in mind that the body needs no saturated fat whatsoever, but does need small amounts of monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, and the omega-3's. So these fats should be included in the 4-25% range. I myself am lazy and don't try to get these special unsaturated fats in my diet. I know I get omega-3 from tuna, but it's not like I go out of my way to get healthy fat, lol! The healthy fats keep free radicals at bay. So if you lower fat, increase vitamin E. ~Angi~ NEED SOME INFO what are the minimum ..fat calorie allowences that you can do and NOT kill your self?..thanks guys for all your support --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
You SHOULD do 20 to 40 grams for a woman. If you have extra weight, do closer to the 20 side. Anything lower than 20 grams a day is not suggested and needs to be suplimented. (Oh, found out on the CLA - 5000 is about the max we should do...just found out today). Surveys of people who lost weight and KEPT it off indicate they average 25% or their calories from fat. The USDA food pyramid advocates less than 30% of your calories from fat. The American diet is roughly 40% of calories from fat. ALL diets with less than 30% fat are referred to as " low fat " by their advocates. The people recommending 10% fat call all other diets high fat! There is a big difference between a 10% fat diet and a 30% fat diet. I eat about 20-25% of my calories from fat. Guest guest
I depends -- but try to shoot for 15g to 25g -- I stress this because (a) fat is needed to survive ( fat fills you up (3) fat tastes good and will help you from going crazy with a diet that doesn't satisfy your taste buds. Also try to get Monosaturated fat (in stuff like olive oil) instead of the Saturated version. Monosaturated breaks down easier so that you body has a better tendancy to use it productively. Hope this helps, Darren > what are the minimum ..fat calorie allowences that you can do and NOT > kill your self?..thanks guys for all your support > >
