Guest guest
Hi Group, Gregg had his 6 month bladder scope Thursday afternoon. I felt as though I was having an all day panic attack. The doctor saw no recurrence of the bladder cancer that was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago. I am so grateful that we can enjoy the next 6 months relatively worry free. The doctor also had the result of Gregg's latest PSA test. Loma reccommends a PSA every 6 months following proton beam therapy, but the Kaiser urlologist wants one every 3 months. Gregg's pre-treatment PSA was 4.9. At four months it was 1.2. Three months later it was 1.4 and the latest was 1.7. Doctor said it was still in the ballpark and nothing to worry about, but I would prefer that it had gone in the opposite direction. We know that post radiation the PSA can look like a roller coaster ride for the first 2 years, so keeping that in mind I have done my best to put the result aside for now. There is always some damn thing to worry about if we allow our minds to have their way with us. All in all we are having a very nice holiday season, compared to the nightmare that was Christmas last year. Friday morning following the afternoon doctor visit we drove to Orange County. Friday evening we celebrated a friend's " graduation " from Loma . This friend and his wife lived in the same house that Fuller and his wife lived in for the 10 week stay in Loma . Mike and Laurie loved the house, Fuller. It was kind of weird to sit and visit with another proton couple almost a year after we did the same with Fuller and Carolyn. In fact Gregg was quite uncomfortable being in Loma again and could not wait to get out of there the next morning. He is wanting to put that part of his life behind him. He left some of his clothes at the Loma Inn so we had to make a detour there yesterday morning on our way home. We celebrated the rest of the weekend with our daughter who turned 25 on Sunday, and now we are home. Life is good and I am walking around in a state of gratitude. It is raining here, I am grateful for that as well. Laurel
