Guest guest
As your orthotist instructed, any red spots that don't go away usually w/i an hr are in need of an adjustment. I wouldn't have Aidan sleep in it until you see your orthotist again, hopefully tomorrow. It is common to need adjustments in the first several days of treatment, it can take some fine tuning to get the perfect fit, so don't be frightened or discouraged yet Let us know if you see your ortho tomorrow. Good luck, it gets easier & easier! Debbie Abby's mom DOCGrad Grand Rapids, MI > Hi...I'm Aidan's mom from Michigan...he just received his helmet > today and he's almost 8 months old. It went away rather quickly, but if you are concerned, I would definitely get it checked out. Call the " doctor " tonight! We got our providers cell number if we had any concerns. We were told if the redness did not go away to take the helmet off and we may have to come in for an adjustment. It maybe a pain the first few days, but you will get used to it. Guest guest
Hi, I just want to second everything Debbie has already told you. Please let us know what your ortho says. I'm sure it'll be smooth sailing once Aidan's band is adjusted. > Hi...I'm Aidan's mom from Michigan...he just received his helmet > today and he's almost 8 months old. Guest guest
Hi, My Aidan had two STARbands, one of which never fit really well. His first one, the one that did not fit perfectly, gave him a reddish pink spot on his forehead. That was one of the " holding points " on his band so his orthotist was not as concerned about it as I was. I was told that a red spot should completely go away within 1 hour before an adjustment is due, but if your orthotist says 20 minutes, then go with the shorter amount of time. Even after 4 months of wearing the ill fitting band, and constant battles with a red forehead, my does not have a permanent red spot now that the band is off. The breaking in period was the most difficult part for us. We had numerous adjustments trying to get it fit perfectly. Do not hesitate to contact your orthotist if you feel that you need an adjustment for Aidan. They do expect to see you often. Good luck! -mom to another Aidan in Michigan STARgrad 2/4/04 GR Mi > Hi...I'm Aidan's mom from Michigan...he just received his helmet > today and he's almost 8 months old.
