Guest guest
Last evening at 7:00 p.m. the State Assembly Passed SB 739 the State's budget bill. It is a new number for the budget bill. The former budget bill number needed to be changed for procedural reasons. The purpose of this urgent message is of critical nature. Contained in the language of SB 739 is provisions to redirect the surplus 911 monies to the General Fund. These monies, expected to be in the area of $63 Million Dollars was initially earmarked to offset local government's cost for the migration of cellular 911 calls to local PSAP's. As most of you are aware, the use of cellular phones is exploding. It is expected in the near future that a majority of calls made to 911 will be via cellular. The current system has those calls going to the CHP. This current system is a major concern for public safety, caused by the delays in transferring the caller to proper PSAP, misdirected calls, and overwhemling impacts to CHP Dispatch Centers. We need your action now! Attached is a letter you may use. Please insert your name and agency where indicated and fax or mail today! Please try to get your Police Chief to do the same. the letter was found at Click here: California Fire Chiefs Association Communications Manager Regional Fire Protection Authority Victorville, CA. These opinions are just that " my Opinions " and " Not presumed to be an official statement of my employing agency. "
