Off topic posts group views

So far I have usually taken a fairly relaxed attitude to the odd innocuous light hearted or factual off topic post.

We have got into trouble with some members when we have got down to political comment that can be seen as contentious.

We now have 800 plus members and rightly the moderators have tried to protect you all from too much of this kind of material. This is a practical decision as if we all started commenting off topic or on politics it would be hard to find the prostate cancer stuff in amongst. I already get posts from those who receive daily digest about the difficulties associated with reading old material many times ( though I point them to the group website to avoid this).

The group is generally democratic and if you have comments I emphasise please don't click reply - e-mail me, Terry or Darryl or all three preferably. If we can tweak the minimal level of control to fit with group views.
