Danmar Helmet -Aidan

Debbie,

We are happy with the Danmar helmet so far...we're just starting

full time wear this week. So we obviously won't have any progress

reports for awhile. Our dilemma is that Aidan is 8 months

already...a big boy...almost walking. And from reading everyone's

stories/experiences it seems like the active bands work better

especially on an older infant. So now that we have the helmet I'm

finding out the difference between the active vs passive style and

wishing I had known more before we went ahead with the process. But

I'm also relieved that he has his helmet and it's fitting really

well now. Our Ortho is good...other parents who have had the same

one confirmed this for us. I guess I just don't want to waste time,

especially if he won't receive the best results from this helmet.

We go to the Neurosurgeon next Friday...she has experience with both

the Starband and the Danmar. A DOC band would also be quite a drive

for us...the closest Starband place is in Southfield Michigan. Have

you heard anything about the Orthotists there (don't see it in the

database)?? Well...I'll keep the group updated as we go along.

Thanks for your concern and your support!

Amy:

I haven't heard of Advance Orthotics in Southfield.

I'm glad the Danmar is fitting well right now. You sure are doing

everything & anything for him! Great job. It never hurts to get

more opinions & check out other options.

Keep us posted.

Amy,

Hi...we put our son in the Clarren helmet when he was 7 months old

(he's a little over nine months now) and it too is a passive

helmet. We have definitely seen results and I am happy with them so

far. My son's head was quite lumpy and flat from the get-go (he

wedged himself in my pelvis for quite some time while I was

pregnant) and his little nose was flattened off to the side (his

photo is under " H " ). Anyway, I was very skeptical from the

start because it seemed that most babies were in active helmets and,

from some of the photos posted, it appeared that they had results

rather quickly. 's were not so quick but they have been slow

and steady. He too is a big boy...he is very tall and has a very

large head so I was afraid that I had missed most of his growth

spurts...not a chance. He is still growing like a weed and, like I

said, his head is rounding out slowly but steadily. Hang in

there...I only have experience with the Clarren helmet but, it is

working. I will hopefully have new photos posted tomorrow that will

show the changes. Good luck.
