Guest guest
We did the DAN! protocol for years with some success, but I decided to switch to homeopathy about a year ago. I did this for various reasons, but mainly because I felt that chelation was too harsh for my taste (yet I recognize that the toxins have to get out some way) and I was tired of the roller coaster symptoms and side effects that many of the commonly prescribed meds had. Our older son (8) is recovered; he was on his way already, but homeopathy really did push him over the edge. My younger son (5) is still moderately autistic, but he is much happier and calmer than before, and continuing to progress. I agree with a previous poster that finding the right homeopath is everything; homeopathy is an art. In my research, there were only a handful of homeopaths in the U.S. that I considered to be very knowledgeable about treating children with autism. If you are interested in learning more about homeopathy and autism, I recommend Amy Lansky's book " Impossible Cure. " Her younger son was recovered using homeopathy. With regard to supplements, my boys still do take quite a few and they are prescribed by a naturopathic physician that our homeopath works with. I feel this is a good path for our family, but I certainly respect and acknowledge that the DAN! protocol has been very successful for many people.
