I think what your doc is saying is the patient developed hematemesis (blood in vomit) and a Hemoccult emesis test was positve for blood along with Hemoccult positive stools. The only exception I can think of is if they were checking the vomitus for hidden (occult) blood.. but I've never personally heard of that. Just my 2 cents. I did a Google search for Hemoccult emesis and I got hits for it, so apparently it does indeed exist, and exactly as I guessed, it's for for occult blood in emesis. I had never heard of this before.
