Guest guest
Since Rick's decompression on 7/98, he has had NOT ONE respiratory illness. And we're both smokers too, so I guess that's pretty incredible!! I hadn't thought of it til now, but he's actually been rather " healthy " since the decompression.......sure, he feels like hell, but he hasn't caught any of the bugs that are going around. There was a bout with something similar to the stomach flu for about three days, but we never did figure out if it was the flu, or the result of him over-doing it on the weekend. Wendi " cathy m. (watch me blow it now that I've said that) There is a term used in medicine, by some, called " aspiration pneumonia " . This is caused by saliva, and other liquids, taken into the lungs accidently due to some problem in the throat. I personally believe, it's been mentioned somewhere before, about the electrical signal getting screwed up, between the brain and the throat, possibly swallowing muscles, or the muscle which does the work of switching the passage way from the lungs , to the esopheagous, and vice versa. When this happens , as is almost constant in my sister, (especially with the auto immune disorder, which I am pretty sure can be existent in chairi, and fibro type people too : ( Anyway the fluids that accumulate in the lungs can cause infections , including pneumonia , bronchial infections etc. That fluid is not supposed to be lying in there, and can , and does stagnate, if you will. You can take it from there. It is common sense after reading about it , and watching two people with the same problems for some time now. Sorry so long. A little frayed on this end. I am no authority. Please correct as needed. Several specialsts here didn't even know what aspiration was, let alone aspiration pneumonia, in 98 ! Pretty sure I can trust my memory this morning.
