Guest guest
Hi All, Well it is finally here. Tomorrow is my appointment when the orthotist will " adjust " my son's helmet that he was fitted for over a month ago. I'm the one whose son couldn't wear his helmet after we got it two weeks ago because of red spots and the orthotist wouldn't be back in town till tomorrow. I am really nervous for some reason, probably because we have had so much trouble and I guess I expect more. Is it possible my son will have grown completely out of it? A month is a long time from casting to full time wear isn't it? My son has only worn the helmet a few hours two weeks ago when we got it (because it left red spots for two hours afterwards and he screamed when he had it on.) How will the orthotist know how it fits if he doesn't wear it before the appointment? I'd hate to put it on him before the appointment esp. since I never thought it fit in the first place. Guest guest
Tris, Good luck tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you. It is a good possibility that his band won't fit him, a month is a long time. If that is the case, you have every right to either demand your money back or get a new band at NO cost to you! Please let us know how you make out. --- In Plagiocephaly , " trijess3 " <trijess3@a...> wrote: > Hi All, > > Well it is finally here. Guest guest
Hi Tris: Good luck tomorrow, please let us know how it goes. You are right, a month is a very long time to go between casting & actually wearing the band full time. Esp given your son's younger age, at 5.5 mos old, I'd say it's safe to assume his head has significantly grown since his original casting. You have done a great job educating yourself thus far, I'm sure you'll know what to look for at tomorrow's appt. Go w/your instincts, if you're still uncomfortable w/the fit, I'd suggest getting another casting & a new band made, of course at no cost to you or your ins.. Please let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Hi Tris, When you see this guy tomorrow, use your instincts, if you think the helmet does not fit properly, then tell him, don,t let him fob you off with a fairy story, have a real good look, to see how it fits, let your child wear it at the clinic afterwards for a while, to check for red marks. If you decide its no good, make him take another head cast, for a new helmet. Take your husband for a second opinion. I wish you good luck. Ian, Manchester, England. ( German Cranio Helmet). And very glad we have one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Tomorrow is the big day > Hi All, > > Well it is finally here. Guest guest
Hi Tris, I agree with . Your orthotist should have done more to make sure you had a good fit before he left town the first time. A month is a long time and I hope the proper adjustments can be made. I would not leave the office until you can verify that his red spots are fading within an hour and he is not screaming while he has it on. Good luck. We'll be thinking of you. Please let us know how it goes and (DOCgrad/10-7-03 to 2-13-04 @10mos./PA)stripes6060 <taime@...> wrote: Tris,Good luck tomorrow, I'll be thinking of you. Guest guest
Why can't you do it? Well, we all had things that got us to the point we are today. Maybe with all your fears, you know and want to do it, but there is something stopping you emotionally maybe? Was there a particular point in your life where you gained more than any other time? Something that started causing comfort eating or something like that? I know for me, some of my weightloss battle is emotional. Do you remember that old disney cartoon where his little self consciouses were in the form of a devil and an angel and were fighting? Yeah, the weight loss struggle reminds me a bit of that. Anyways... we are rooting you on! You can do it! Shirley Have a burning question? Go to Answers and get answers from real people who know. Guest guest
This is a huge thing for me right now. I haven't shared this with anyone but my husband, but I had a scary Ob/gyn appointment a few months ago. I mentioned my hubby and I would be starting to try in a few years, and my dr. suddenly got a really pained look on her face. I just stopped bc pills because they were giving me migraines. We use other protection, but my doctor was trying to force another type of bc pill on me (even though I've gone through 3 kinds already). She was very very insistent, and finally said she is really scared of my gettting pregnant right now because of my weight. She's afraid of what would happen to me and what would happen to the baby. I've never had such a long lecture from the doctor about my weight. I am planning on switching doctors, only because 1)She kept dismissing that the bc would be causing my migraines and 2)I want a doctor that works out of the hospital by my house. But that is now a huge motivator for me. My period hasn't been regular in the last year, and it might have a lot to do with the extra pounds I've piled on. Blame doesn't solve anything - just get over it, regroup and reorganize and back on track!
