Although I didn't use this particular dr. I can tell you what

happened when went to her first visit with the specialist. They

took pictures of all angles, did measurements of her head and body,

even weighed her. Did a hands-on exam and then gave us the

diagnoses. Wrote a rx for the band and then sent us to get 3-D X-

rays of her skull. Good luck, it is painless, I promise!

Hi... I don't know if someone already answered your question but

here goes my input. Dr. Stelnicki is a craniofacial surgeon.

You can check his website at www.drstelnicki.com. Even though I did

not meet him personally, he agreed to verify Ignacio's CT and to

give his impressions since we suspected there was a slight

possibility of cranio. I've heard wonderful comments about him from

one or two of the moms in this group; also he operated the daughter

of a friend of my aunt's friend (yes... i know, this sounds

like " luke... i am your father's first nephew cousin)... and they

were absolutely pleased with him.

Hope your evaluation goes well.

First Appointment

So we had our first appointment today. It went pretty well. Dominick (my son) is definately a candidate as his head measurements were not too good. My husband did come with me and I think he is finally accepting and dealing with the fact. He is now also excited about decorating the helmet :) I am very excited, anxious and nervous about getting the process started. They told me that he should have the helmet within 2 weeks. They try to get 5-6 month olds in them within 2 weeks. We go back next week for the scan thingy. Thank you all for your responses. After this appointment today I feel so much better.

If you're like I am, the anticipation of the band and all the associated worries

is much worse than actually having it on! Seriuosly, once we had it on and got

through the first week of getting used to it, it's been a breeze! It's as

normal to as my putting his socks on, and I dont feel hyper-sensitive to

people's stares anymore. I just smile to put people in public at ease and

explain about the helmet when people ask or are obviously wondering and it's not

a big deal. You will feel great knowing that positive changes are happening as

soon as the band is on! At Dominick' age, he's likely to see lots of

improvement quickly. Good for you! Dad will probably feel even better about it

once you've got it and he sees the changes after just a week or two and also

sees how quickly babies adjust to it.
