Guest guest
- don't I "know" you from the cappskids board? And you go to the CT on Lankershim? Deb w. Aidan Second Helmet?? Not sure if we should..? Hi all, Wondering if anyone has been in a similar dilemma. Cade (now 11 months) just out grew his DOC Band. He was in it 2 1/2 months and has seen pretty good correction. He is not a severe case. Was at 5mm and now is at 3mm (the high end of the normal range of assymetry they tell me at CT). Not sure if we should go for a second helmet? Given his age and all, we are wondering if it will be worth the energy/money to keep going a bit more. Anyone been in a similar situation? My husband wants to keep going since you can still see the flat spot on the back of his head. He is hoping to get more rounding in the back of his head. Any suggestions? , mom to Cade 11 months. Guest guest
Hi , My son Trentyn got his first band at 13 months and his second at 16 months. Although the growth has been slower at his older age, we have definitely seen a huge improvement with both bands. We definitely do not regret going with the 2nd one, we figure every little bit helps him get that much closer to a "normal" shape. If you still have concerns with his flat spot, I would say go for it. It is the only chance to correct it and at 11 months, he could definitely still achieve additional correction. Good luck with your decision! Jen- TXTrentyn- 19 mo. DocBand 06/12/03 & 09/17/03 Second Helmet?? Not sure if we should..? Hi all, Wondering if anyone has been in a similar dilemma. Guest guest
Hi , Not sure what others have said. Here is my 2 cents. na is now in her second band. She was in the first one for 4 weeks (she grew very fast). She went from 11 mm to 7 mm. We told ourselves before her second set of measurements if she was 5 mm or less we would not band again. Her head looks so much better but her ears still need work and she still has some slight facial asymmetry. Also, so far insurance has not paid. So I guess my thoughts are Cade is now well within the normal population range. I was looking for a pic but couldn't find one. If he doesn't have any facial asymmetry then I wouldn't because you never know if it's going to correct those last few mm. Also, he's growing slower now and it might be 8 weeks or more to get the 1-2 mm correction. Also, if insurance isn't going to pay them I'm not sure it would be worth it for that extra little correction. Some would argue that by getting to 3 mm you're 100% corrected because you're now in the normal range, which is absolutely wonderful!!! It's really a very personal decision. Good luck.
